*Amika sniffed the ground to find a scent of the sick baby elk she had been tracking for months. No sign of it. She growled. She had never lost scent of that elk! "guess I'll just catch another stupid salmon" she moaned. Amika was extremely skinny. She had been eating nothing but fish for over a month. Her ribs were very visible, and she was always hungry, but somehow she had had the strength to continue tracking the deer. Until now. Amika was drained. She had barely enough energy to walk.
A few days ago, (when she was still perky) she had found an adult female moose and her calf by a pond in the marshes. She stalked the calf. When she was about to pounce, suddenly, a gigantic full grown male moose kicked her down and stomped on her left front foot.
Amika limped over to the river. She sat down by the waters edge. This was the best fishing spot she knew of. She watched as the trout and the salmon swam by. "perfect" she sneered. It was spawning season for the salmon and a female was busy laying eggs. She snapped her jaws down on the fish and flipped it out of the water. She gobbled it up. Although it tasted discusting, she needed the protein to help her survive. But just one young small female salmon wasn't going to help her. She. Needed a lot more food. Fast*
