Glitch, or the FH shutdown? (Solution might have been found...)
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:50:02 am »
I know the FH server is offline, but I wanted to work on my map, and I believe you can do that without connection. Earlier today I was working in the objects menu. Then, I closed out. I went to re-open, and when the Kovuworks logo is supposed to come up, I get a window that says "Feralheart.exe has stopped working."  This has happened to me before and usually I just shut down, wait a minute, and then restart. This usually fixes it, but this time, it still gives me the error. Why does it do this so randomly, and is there anything I can do aside from waiting it out?

Early thank you to those who respond.

EDIT: I removed EVERYTHING out of myobjects and then it started. I don't know what in blazes is wrong in that folder, but for whatever reason, either by coincidence, or a bad file moved, FH is back up and running...if anyone knows what might have done this, please tell me so that I can avoid it in the future, and so will other players.

Thanks to those who helped.

It is indeed a Glitch, Online Connection is not needed for Map Making, Preset Making, Object making, And The Like.

Okay I thought so, thanks for clearing that up...now I need to know why it keeps randomly doing this. *arm flail* I want my map~ (XD I can wait it out, but I'm hoping for an easy fix on this.)

How many maps have you made? Ive heard rumours that too many maps in Map-Maker can cause problems, But it is just a rumour.

A whole new computer. It has the Watermill and a map my friend started. I have a bunch of maps in exports, but we have a laptop with WAY more export maps and custom maps and it runs find. This isn't the first time it's happen. I'd randomly close out and then not get back in. I had a lot of objects, but I deleted a large file today that it had been running without a hassle, and continued to run fine for a while. I don't know what is with this finicky computer.

Some computers dont agree with FeralHeart. It also could be your security system, Or it could be something much deeper.

Well, it works on and off. This is a new vista computer, and it's the only vista I have around. All the other computers in the house run it fine under the same security. I think it's the vista but I'm not sure.

Trying going into your computer

C:\FeralHeart\media\particles

There might be files called _01 _02 etc in the end of their name. If there is, remove them then try to run the game again.

I looked. There are no files there with _01 and _02. I turned my computer off for the whole night and came back in without going straight to FH, and it is still doing it. @.@ It was working perfectly fine yesterday.

Okay, I changed the rendering system to Direct3D9 through the orge file. But, when I click to open, it shows that first black window that pops up for a second whenever I open the game to configure stuff I think. But when that window pops up, another one pops up with this.

FeralHeart.exe - Unable To Locate Component
This application has failed to start because d3dx9_42.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem.

I've seen this before, and this usually fixed itself as well and it hasn't bothered me since the first day I installed this on my computer.

Does anyone have an idea about what d3dx9_42.dll is? What file is it, where should it be, where could it be, or do I not have it period?
