Why draw the lines when you can copy and paste?
Open your preset image, make sure its ONE layer (save, close then open the file). Open the fur texture in GIMP, copy and paste it on your preset image, select the "New Layer" button for the fur texture. Go to the layer mode and select "Multiply" with the fur texture layer selected. Then replace your existing image.
Its the same with the mane just the other way around.
http://feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_jfusion&Itemid=2&jfile=index.php&topic=13541.0 That tutorial contains some files which might make the mane look better. Place the images in the textures folder. Open up the FManeShade.png in GIMP, make a new layer and change the mode to Multiply and start colouring.
For the glow, just make a preset like you normally would and save it. Open up the UV map again of the feline/canine, make a new normal layer and draw your glow in the dark markings on. When your done, delete the layer with the map on it and save. Dont save it with the same name as your preset! You will have to edit your .material code and put the names of the images in.
My tips are use layers, blur and smudge and tool. Use different colours on each layer so you dont erase the wrong thing.
It only exports to .fhp, you cant change it. I would suggest telling them NOT to use or share it, you could also just take screenies or a video and show them that way.
Dont worry, your not an idiot. I couldnt do all this either once, you will get the hang of it eventually
