Alright, for a wooden/iron door you'll either need wooden planks or iron ingots.
The recipe calls for the three wooden planks or iron ingots going down the first column(left) and second column (middle) (columns are downwards; rows are to the side.)
To make a wooden sword, you'll need a wooden stick in the last box of the middle column with two wooden planks above, filling in the middle box and top box of the middle column.
