Heightmap doesn't work!

Hey, I got a small problem. I've made a.. potential good heightmap (or Terrain, whatever). I need it for a future rp I want to make. The only problem is.. Well.. The heightmap somehow doesn't work. I got it on 512x512 AND 513x513, both don't work. When I try to load the map in 'Map Maker', the whole game crashes.. I read a couple of tutorials and stuff, but I still don't know the problem. Could someone try to explain it to me or help me?

Was it on greyscale?

I think so.. Not quiet sure. As far as I know it was.

Well you might wanna check that somehow or make new one? (Btw with what program you made your heightmap?)

I made it with Gimp. I saved the file under .png..
Wait.. Did i do something wrong with the saved file? Like, wrong file? *facepalm*

Oke it's not zoomed in but I hope you see it like when you click new file then you have to choose from there greyscale:

Yes, I know how gimp works xD I have the greyscale on.

Hmm then maybe
-Just one layer
-Flattened image
-No alpha channel
and I really don't know if 512X512 works I usually use 513X513

Uhm.. Two things.. What is 'flattened image'? How do I do it?
And what is alpha channel ._.
