Dusty nodded, backing up just like what the mutt had did. He hurried forward, stretching his forepaws out as they scraped against the edge of the cliff. Pulling himself up, and grabbed the female pup, ignoring its cries of terror as it squirmed. "I'm trying to help you." Dusty muttered, ready to drop onto the sand. As he tensed, the same wolf emerged from the waterfall, flicking her ear.
"Hello." The wolf greeted towards Dusty.
"Aww, c'mon. You again?" He mumbled under his breath. But she didn't seem vicious or anything, probably just curious of the group. He decided to be polite, they wouldn't come across another wolf like this. "Hey." He replied, turning around to launch himself down. But the wolf interrupted his concentration before he could move.
"Is that pup supposed to be out there? I can go get him if you like." The wolf gestured towards something in the waves, flipping over onto her back.
"What pup? If you're talking about Gavroche, he's fine. I told him to stay in the shallows." Dusty reassured her, glancing at the pup just to be sure. His eyes widened as he noticed that Gav was waddling deeper into the waves, his tiny body hardly visible as the water crashed over his head. "The stars'!" Dusty exclaimed. "Here!" Gently thrusting the crying pup into the wolf's reach, Dusty launch himself down and began to sprint over to the pup, calling out his name.
"Gav! Gavroche, get back here!" Dusty snarled, throwing himself into the waves. Irritation for the pup's mischievous adventures nagged at him as he kicked out his legs, splashing water at his sides. He wasn't sure what was lurking in these waves, but he pressed onward, flicking his paws towards Gavroche. Dusty glanced at the horizon. The sun was rising slowly, which meant the high-tide was coming soon.
Growling with annoyance, Dusty held his head higher in attempt to get the water out of his nose. As he reached the pup, he was about to stretch out to snag his scuff when a wave roared and crashed over him, separating him from the pup. "Uggggh." Dusty gurgled as he sucked up a mouthful of salty water. Spluttering, he struggled up and poked his head out of the waves, seeking the waves for any sign of the pup. He wasn't sure if Gavroche had disappeared under the waters from the sudden wave.
Muttering, Risto poked his head into the grass, his tail-tip twitching. "Curse this place." He muttered. "Don't they have herbs here?" Sighing, he plopped down on his haunches sulkily, his ear twitching as he heard the waves crashing nearby. He wasn't about to join the others just to have "fun" on the shore. Deciding that it was no use just pouting here for the herbs, he rose to his paws, stretched, and padded out of the trees. The thin touch of grass soon disappeared, the sandy shore replacing it as his paws sunk into the sand.
As he seated himself on a flat rock, he watched as Dusty interacted with the annoying mutt, offering to help her with her pups. He let out a quiet grunt, glancing around. Flak was scouting along the rocks, while Micah padded along the shore and Teegan splashed into the waves like a young pup.
Stretching out on the rock, Risto rested his head on his forepaws, his tail curling in amusement as he watched the pup head deeper into the waves. He turned away, resting his focus on Dusty and Cara, but he froze. His head snapped back to Gavroche and alarm rippled through him. Didn't Flak announce that they stay in the shallows? He sat up, whipping his head in all direction. Nobody seemed to notice the pup's action.
As the feline slipped down from the rock, heading towards the pup, lunging for the water as he splashed into it. He shook his head as water seeped into his ear. He was useless at swimming, but his goal was getting Gavroche back to the shore, wasn't it?
He surprised himself as he bobbled along the waters towards the pup. "Am I that fish brained to actually try to help that pup?" He muttered to himself, knowing that he and the pup weren't on good terms with each other. He knew that Dusty was already swimming strongly towards Gavroche, but it would be best to have someone else there to help you. Besides, the rest of the group seemed busy hunting, rather than noticing the pup and going over to rescue him.
His thoughts were erased as he gulped down seawater, spitting it out. As he did, another distraction hovered over him as a wave crashed down, pushing him deeper into the water. Squirming in the water, he thrashed his paws up, gasping the air as he splashed upward. He surveyed the area, keeping an eye on the pup as he kicked towards him. Risto quickly glanced at Dusty. The brute seemed lost for a moment, staring everywhere for any sign of the pup.
"Gavroche?" Risto called, wondering where he was.
