It is true, test it out yourself with a friend in a map. It's half the distance it used t obe. Me and my pack the other day had trouble roleplaying in local during a hunt even when we saw all name tags. Eventually we had to just post in general chat since it was a private map... but yeah. It being shortened has made this way more of a struggle then it should be.

I noticed this as well when I was playing last night. Strange, to say the least. If it's not a glitch then I doubt I'd understand any reasoning behind this range being changed.

I tested this on fluorite, i just see the local range is normal as always (1 step more far than the distance you can see the name tags), what i noticed its just lag, so the people most times are far away than they apear to be.
Maybe there are diferent ranges on each map?

Now that the lag seems to have died down a bit I'm not having this problem anymore, so I'd say Thierry is right about it causing people to seem closer than they really are~.

Maybe it is a map thing. Me and a friend were in BOnfire when we tested it. It wasn't lag though, we tested this before all the major server hiccups and lag happened the past few days. We were also on Skype and say eachother move when we said we were moving.. so I doubt it's lag. It's sitll happening to me.

I just tested the range on Ficho tunnel and bonfire, Same range as always. I guess probably has something to do with the account?. Next time i find you online we can test this.

We haven't modified the range for local chat at all...It shouldn't be anything unusual for anyone!
