Name: Malk
Species: Elf
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Powers [If any]: His powers are magic. But it has it's limits. Below is from another roleplay I am in. In this part my character, Snow Shoe and Firespirt's character, Watcher, are teaching volume's character, Erran how to defend himself against magic attacks through minds. Blue text is me. Green text is Firespirt. Orange text is volume.
Watcher flicked an ear and got back up, nodding to Erran. "Sure." he said. "Anything you would like to do first?"
Erran grinned excitedly, though he was thrown by his first question. Erran thought for a few moments before asking, "Eh.. the easiest thing?"
"Best you start with the most important thing. It has nothing to do with magic but if you wish to work with Magic Users you need to learn. You need to protect your mind from others. If you do not they can get into your mind and take control of it. To do this you need to focus on only one thing and when the invader comes that is all they will see. You need to be able to keep this focus even in the middle of a battle. One tray thought and they could get in. If you want we could try and see how well you can do it. But of course I wouldn't be doing anything to you if I got past your barriers. It is likely I would because the skill it difficult to master." Snow Shoe said. He knew it was Watcher who was meant to teach him but Snow Shoe doubted Watcher was better than Show Shoe in this part of Magic since he had to do it all day to be able to work a normal life.
Erran realised that this would be a good skill to master first. "Sounds good. You two wanna take turns?" He paused, forcing himself to trust them. "Just give me a chance to start concentrating first." Erran tensed, not really knowing what to expect.
Snow Shoe waited until Erran seemed fully absorbed in one think before he reached out his mind toward him. He was met by a solid barrier around his mind. He pushed up against it would would shot pain into Erran and would make his thoughts waver and allow Snow Shoe entry.
Watcher nodded to Snow Shoe, looking on with interest.
Erran felt Snow Shoe as a burst of sharp pain and struggled to keep his concentration firmly on a stone. He started to tremble under the pain and strength of the other wolf's brain, but was determined not to look weak. Despite this, he trembled for about ten seconds before looking back up at Snow Shoe, his eyes pleading for him to stop. "How bad was that?" He asked, annoyed at himself.
"Umm... from the looks of it, I'd say pretty tough." Watcher said.
"You did well for your first time." Snow Shoe said, then released Erran's mind and returned to his own body.
"You can cause pain to you attacker as well, but it is difficult because you have to open yourself up while still keeping them out in order to do so. If you have a greater focus you can keep the pain of the attack dull." He said.
Here are the rules of magic. These are the rules I used in the roleplay before.
I did get these magic facts from the Eragon books.
Every magic user is able to touch the minds of other animals. They can learn about the animal and its personal life. They can also tell when someone else is trying to get into their mind. Depending on their skill they can defend their minds from invaders. Mind control does not work, but they can control a mind the wishes to be controlled. Skilled magic users are able to sense all the animals around them. They can speak to each other in minds. Both animals do not need to be able to use magic. The farther away the animal is the harder it is the sense it. It is normal for normal magic users to not be able to sense a dark magic user or vice virsa until they meet each other. If you are speaking to someone's character though minds please do this to your writing so we know not everyone can hear it.
In order for a spell to work the magic user must use magic words. Only very skilled magic users can cast a spell without speaking and it is dangerous.
If they cast a spell that is too powerful for them they will lose their energy and die. Using magic will use as much energy as it would have if you had done it manually. As long as the spell is going it will take energy from the user.
Energy can be stored into objects and used for later times.
Very few know this can be done but a magic user can take energy from animals around them and the plants around them. But the donors almost always are killed.
Everyone, non magic user and magic user has a normal name given to them by their parents and a true name. Only rare breeds know their true name without trying. Other animals must learn it by learning about them selves. Others can guess someones true name. A true name is always in the magic language. If someone knows your true name they have complete control over you. If someone changes their personality it is possible for their true name to change.
