Dakota collected his winnings, and trotted home. He couldn't wait to show Spirit and Bluejay his food, they would be so happy! He walked back to their den, which was a clean but tipped over Dumpster in an alley. Dakota had lived there his whole life. When and Spirit were pups, their father would fight and bet to win food for them. But when Dakota's younger brother, Bluejay, was born, his mother died. His father was extremely sad. Then their father would go to the Warehouse, but he was killed in a fight. Dakota now took his place.

He reached the Dumpster, and Spirit was sitting waiting for him, while little Bluejay chased a beetle. He dropped the prey, "I have food!" Both Rottweilers looked up, their nub tails wagging. They walked over, licking Dakota. The sun started to rise. Dakota, Spirit, and Bluejay all ate, "I have first round tomorrow night."
Spirit nodded, "Against who?"
"I dunno."
Bluejay piped in, mouse blood spattering his tiny jaws, "You can win against anyone! You fought and won against a bordercollie!" Dakota smiled, it was true.
