Scarlette bit her lip nervously at the sound of Luke's coughing, her panic rising slowly until she stopped moving when Luke suddenly began to push her into a direction. Confused, she looked up to see a broken window, and her hope lifted. Without wasting anymore time, the silver-haired girl rushed towards the window, moving to climb it and carefully avoid the small but sharp shards of glass.

A bright flicker of Colour on the corner of his eye caught his attention, and Rak'zel half-turned to see what was up now. He immediately perked up upon seeing the house on fire all of a sudden, though he was sure it wasn't there a few minutes ago. Huh, amusing. Did one of those idiots decide to play with fire? Rak was about to turn to Apitre to catch her reaction, but the girl was already running to the entrance of the house.

Huffing with frustration, Rak hesitated for a moment before roughly shaking off his brother's hand and following Apitre, though he stopped a few distance behind her. "Are you crazy, Apitre? Get back from the house!"

Decimus stared in shock as both Apitre and Rak ran over to the now burning house, but thankful that his younger brother didn't travel too close. He opted to stay and watch the commotion, ready to run in and help if needed.  His gaze travelled to the ground, his feet kicking at the damaged road - until something grey and crumpled caught his attention. Huh, newspaper. Torn and a little burnt at the edges but otherwise was readable.

Luke anxiously watched as the girl heaved herself out of the window. "Watch out for the glass!" he warned her, but she was already avoiding. Heat roared behind him, and he resisted the urge to turn around. He knew it would only increase his fear and cause him to panic. Once Scarlette was safely outside, he flung Jinx's body onto the windowsill, wincing as his body screamed in pain. He rolled the boy out of the window, watching as he plopped into the grass. Fortunately, they were only one the first floor; otherwise, he wouldn't have pushed Jinx out the window.

A loud crackling sound caught Luke's attention. He turned to see a large chunk of wood tumble into the flames from the ceiling. The whole place is falling down! he realized. Another snap rushed in his ears, and he dove through the window, shattering some of the glass on his way out. Muscle slammed against the ground as he roughly hit the dirt. "Oh, God!" he groaned, but he had no time to lick his wounds. He scrambled up onto his feet and grabbed the unconscious boy's leg, tugging him away from the burning building.

Apitre was faintly aware of someone yelling at her, but her body had frozen in place. Her eyes widened as chunks of the ceiling began tumbling into the flames. Oh my God, she thought, panic beginning to rise within her. She needed to get out. Being burned alive would not help the others escape. She turned and fled out the door just as a large piece of wood smashed in the spot where she had been standing. That was close. She stared up at Rak, feeling a little embarrassed by her choice of actions.

"Sorry," she mumbled, scratching the back of her head. "I guess I wasn't thinking . . .?"

A loud groan interrupted her. She jerked her head to see Luke pulling a body along the ground. Her heart leaped into her mouth at the sight. She thought she saw flashes of orange dancing along the figure's back. "Luke!" she shrieked. "You're on fire!"[/center]

Scarlette turned when she heard something soft hit the ground behind her, her gaze shifting down towards Jinx's still unconscious body. She jumped when a loud crackling sound following by a bang echoed  from the house, quickly glancing up to where the flames greedily swallowed up a bunch of broken planks, stretching higher with confidence. She barely managed to move out of the way when Luke suddenly tumbled through the window, hitting the ground roughly and yelling out an "Oh, god!" before scrambling up to drag Jinx away. She was about to move away when she heard Apitre's words - Now she noticed the other girl standing closer to the house - and quickly looked back at Luke, eyes widening as they stared at the happy flames engulfing the boy's back. How did he not even feel it? "Luke, drop to the ground and roll!"


He sighed in relief as Apitre finally saw some sense and ran back to him right before a few planks dropped right where she was standing. Calm his - strangely - Quickly beating heart, he quietly inspected Apitre to see if she had any burns, before his attention was pulled towards Luke by the girl's frantic shouting.



Decimus read the news a little too intensely, barely paying any attention to what was happening near the house. The plague is spreading faster. Half the town is dead, the rest suffering in their beds. Some have already started to leave this maze of a town, but nearly none made it out without becoming severely ill. A middle-aged man have claimed that he has seen a silver/white-haired girl roaming silently around the empty streets, with her right hand stained whole with red, and handling a sharp dagger. Has the world gone insane, or co-

The rest was torn out, even the 'co' was smudged horribly. His orange eyes first narrowed with suspicion, then widened considerably as he quickly glanced up to Scarlette, the only person he has ever known with silver hair... Then only did he notice Luke's back on fire, and he quickly shoved the paper in his pocket and ran towards the group.

Appearance:
Personality: Alex is clever. Where strength fails her, and speed and stamina run dry, it's her ever-racing mind that saves her. She's very mentally well-rounded, having been good in mathematics and science and language arts and social studies when things like school mattered. She's also highly independent. However, as soon as things start going wrong and she gets upset, she falls apart with some physical symptoms, like breathing issues.
History: Alex has never been Alexandra, as some might think. If her birth certificate were still intact, which it isn't, but if it was, the name printed on the top wouldn't read 'Alexandra Blackwill', it would read 'Alex Blackwill'. So, through her completely-average past, Alex Blackwill never had to correct any role-calls with a nickname. Then, when the Disease struck, she stopped going to school. Her entire family, everyone except for her, in fact, had come down with it. Alex had cooped herself up alone for days and days, until the insane patient escaped from the Asylum and the bomb destroyed her town.

The warning shouts of the others barely reached through Luke's ears. A frown darkened his face as he paused, confusion rippling through him. It was only until he smelled burnt skin and felt pain that he realized what was going on. A yelp shot out of his lips, and he shoved Jinx away. Immediately diving onto the ground, he frantically rolled around, straining to remain calm. It was one thing to be trapped in a burning building, but this? Catching himself on fire was a completely different predicament. Terror slashed through him, and his heartbeat increased rapidly.

He suddenly felt something whacking on his body repeatedly. He was too focused on suffocating the flames to care. Coughs shook his body as he curled up into a shuddering ball, and he saw dying orange flecks sprawled all over the thirsty earth. Once he slightly recovered from the shock, he lifted his head to see Apitre tightly clutching a large, slightly burnt jacket. Steam rose from the cloth, and she dropped it to the ground with a shaky whimper.

Luke shook his head at the brunette. "Don't cry," he croaked, knowing she was blaming herself for the entire situation. "Please don't cry. You were only trying to help us."

The girl slowly nodded, taking a trembling breath as she averted her eyes. Luke thought he caught a flash of tears quivering in her pools, threatening to spill out. She managed to blink them away. He painfully sat up, wincing as his body ached in protest. "Where are we going to stay now?" He nodded towards the building, completely swallowed by flames.

Rak watched silently as Apitre attempted to disperse the flames from Luke's jacket, and after a moment succeeded. When Luke asked where they would stay now, a surge of anger passed through him and he sneered, arms crossing. "And whose bright idea was it to set the fire on house, hm?" He cocked his head to the side, eyes glaring at the three. People who went into the house - Luke, Scarlette and even the body of Jinx.

Luke shakily stood up on wobbly legs, feeling as if they were about to give out underneath him. "Blame Jinx for that," he snapped, unwilling to deal with the boy's nasty attitude. "It wasn't -"

"Wait, Jinx started the fire?" Apitre interrupted, shock widening her eyes.

Luke wearily rubbed his forehead, grimacing as his fingers pulled away with black soot. "Well, there was actually a wolf in there," he sighed, reluctant to defend the boy. "So it wasn't much of a bad idea, I guess."

The brunette tossed an uncertain glance at her brother, who was still crumbled in an unconscious state. She picked up the jacket and carefully dropped it over the male. It was in that moment that Luke realized she had used it to put out the flames. Well, that boy's gonna throw a fit when he finds out, he thought, a tiny smirk rising on his lips.

"I don't know about you guys, but I think it'd be best to stay away from buildings," he said, not wanting to deal with any creatures or fires. "I'm sleeping in the streets." As dangerous as it sounded, it seemed much safer than spending the night in an unknown building. He trudged down the road to place a little distance between the fire and himself. The last thing he wanted was to be burned to a crisp in his sleep.

"Wait, what about Jinx!" Apitre called after him.

He ignored it, deciding to let someone else worry about the boy. His body ached too much to bother carrying him.

Apitre huffed as her called question remained unanswered. I guess I'll have to deal with him myself, she decided, grabbing him by one of his ankles. Beginning to tug him along, she followed after Luke's figure, straining to see in the thickening darkness. Surprise flickered in her as she realized how light her brother was. Then again, I expected him to be heavy, which is probably why he feels so light. She did have a bit of trouble dragging him, especially since he had turned into a soggy bag of limbs. However, she didn't wish to ask for assistance. After all, he was her brother, not the others' sibling.

Apitre saw Luke stop in the distance before flopping onto the ground. I guess that's where we're staying, she thought, pulling at Jinx a little harder.

Alex drew her finger through the ash and dust and occasional wire, tracing the old location of her laptop. She couldn't remember it too well; everything before the explosion was hazy and barely there, but she remembered a vague sense that the laptop had been brand-new and high-quality. She knew she had been really excited when she saved up enough of her allowance, which took nearly three years, to buy the laptop, since the previous one was so slow and clunky.
"Maybe I should stop trying to remember and start trying to find some scraps." It was almost comical, because the spread of the explosion wasn't exactly uniform. Here and there, a random fridge or bookshelf or washing machine had survived, and in the remnants of the kitchen, one of those random fridges cropped up.
As she opened it, Alex immediately noticed that the milk and scraps of meat (which had been months old by the time the explosion struck, since Alex hated meat of all kinds and kept it only for nostalgia's sake) had already gone bad. She scanned the meager contents of the fridge again before picking up a few stashed slices of pizza and placing them in an old bookbag. She shouldered it and walked out of the door.

? Scene One ?

Scarlette, Luke, & a few other characters met after they escaped their destroyed homes. They started searching for food and useful items. Ending up in a restaurant, they met other people (Decimus, Rak, Apitre, & Jinx). After filling their backpacks with food, they decided their goal would be to get out of the town in hopes that other towns would be able to help them. They left with their backpacks.

? Scene Two ?

Night began to fall. The group decided they would need to get some rest. Apitre spotted a building and suggested they stayed in it. However, Jinx wanted to check it out to make sure it was safe. He went in with a match, only to be attacked by an unknown creature (which turned out to be a wild wolf). The match was put out, and he fell unconscious in the darkness.

Luke and Scarlette followed in after hearing Jinx cry out. They soon got lost in the darkness as well. After the wolf stalked them, they ended up running and losing each other. Luke tripped over Jinx's unconscious body and managed to pick him up after realizing it was him. He soon found Scarlette, and she tried to guide them back to the exit.

? Scene Three ?

The wolf cornered them after finding them. Fortunately, there was enough moonlight for them to see. Luke started fighting with the wolf while Scarlette searched for weapons. Jinx regained consciousness long enough to realize what was happening. He lit a match and set the wolf on fire.

Unfortunately, the idiot didn't entirely think through his plan. He ended up setting the entire building on fire. He fell unconscious again, so Luke had to carry him once more. He and Scarlette wandered around until spotting a broken window. They climbed through and stumbled back to the group, only to realize that Luke had caught on fire. Apitre managed to put out the fire.

Now, Luke is deciding to sleep on the streets. He's found a suitable spot, and Apitre is currently dragging her unconscious brother towards him.

Scarlette raised a brow as she watched the exchange between both Luke and Apitre, before Luke declared that he would be sleeping in the streets. She thought it was more dangerous than sleepng in a building, since you were out in the open, but didn't say anything - Luke was stubborn and probably wouldn't listen. She sighed, not knowing what to do, before noticing Apitre carrying Jinx by herself. Quietly, she walked over to the other only female in the group, mumbling a rather quiet "Do you need help?"


Rak'zel snorted with light amusement at Luke's words. "Have fun getting eaten by a stray animal." He called over, smirking lightly before casting a brief glare at Decimus, then casting his gaze around the area, sighing when he found no other houses intact. He muttered a colourful curse under his breath, eyes narrowing dangerously. "At least get somebody up to do a watch, idiots."
