my dad installed windows 8.1 and every thing black I am see others and they can see me and we can talk fine but I can not go any where else I thing I am in bonfire. All the video drivers are up to date. !!!!HELP!!!!

Reinstall FH from this site. This sounds like either missing textures, or a Orge error.  Orge errors are graphical issues that sometimes randomly come up.

You can modify your first post by clicking the modify button. ^^

Anyways, I use Windows 8.1 too, and it shouldn't have done that. Just try reinstalling FH, and it should work. But make sure you delete the FH folder in computer! Otherwise it won't change. ^^

Yeah, I would reinstall too. Normally that happens when you load up a character thats in a map that you no longer have the files for. On the chat box, Normally it will appear with the map name when you arrive eg: -Bonfire Island-
Did it still say this or just have '--' ?

No worries, I had the exact problem when I started. I have Windows 8.1, and once I had the exact thing happening. A nice uninstall should work. It might be because some textures just gone an that. :/ But you'll be fixed in no time, because the uninstall will reset everything on FH. [But not your Account. xD] And then Try Re-installing it again, and hopefully it should work.

Downloading Win 8.1 could have removed some of the files from FH when it downloaded (it was best to backup the files before upgrading). Reinstall the game to regain all the files.

We did not upgrade to Windows 8.1, it was a new install because we got a larger hard drive in the process. So we had to do a fresh install of feral-heart.
