When Sam finally pulled herself together, she stood with the help of a stormy gray wolf with one black ear and stunning gold eyes; one of her troops, a boy named Isaac. She passed by a small puddle filled clearing, but froze when she heard the sound of crying, she then peeked over the ridge and was horrified by what she saw. David was sitting there, bawling over two mangled bodies, whom she recognized as Megan and Piper, Megan's mother. Without thinking her paws slid down the muddy slope and she bounded over to him, wanting to comfort the only friend who didn't hate her. Yet.
She pressed her forehead into his open palm, then licked his tear stained cheek "I'm sorry." She whispered, then backed away. Taking one last glance at him, she raised her head in a howl; one full of misery, sorrow, remorse, and grief. She was soon accompanied by another voice, and then another, then another, until the forest itself was singing her song.
