Vogelmadras
« on: June 30, 2014, 06:38:26 pm »
Vogelmadras are a cross between birds and wolves. (The word "vogel" means bird in German and "madra" means dog in Irish. I chose those two languages because the countries that use them make up most of my heritage) They are very small and long winged wolves; at full size they are no bigger than a wolf pup. Vogelmadras rely on their sense of sight and smell more than hearing, as their ears are very small.
Their behavior depends on what kind of vogelmadra they are. They prefer to fly instead of walk and live in trees, or live on the ground and live in dens, depending on what type of bird they are half of. For example, ostrich vogelmadras are huge, flightless, and fast. Penguin vogelmadras are also flightless and live in cold areas eating fish. Macaw vogelmadras live in warm, tropical areas. Like birds, they have a "thumb" talon behind their paws that give them the ability to pick things up and perch on a thick tree branch.
Vogelmadras also act like wolves, too. They live in packs and have a territory. All vogelmadras can eat meat, so they hunt for deer or small mammals. (If they are part plant-eating bird, then they can also eat plant life) Vogelmadras also howl to communicate long distances, or just for fun. They can make any sound that a bird and a wolf can make.

They are born without wings, about the size of a pup. Over time, as they age, their wings start to grow and as teens they can fly.

To be considered a vogelmadra your character must meet these requirements:
- They can be the size of a normal wolf, but only the ostrich one gets to be the largest.
- Their ears must be the smallest they can be.
- It has to be winged, unless it's a flightless bird-type vogelmadra or a newborn.
- Only use thin tail, cat tail, or tailless.
- Manes and tufts are fine.
- You can make up your own bird type if you can't find a bird you would like the vogelmadra to be related to.
- The nose must be the same color as the pelt, so that it doesn't have a wolf/dog nose.
- Name must be like this: Name VM or Name F/M VM (VM stands for Vogelmadra; replace "Name" with whatever name it has), or put that it's a vogelmadra in the bio. For either one you must say that the species was created by PurpleLovezz in the bio.

NOTE: THE VOGELMADRA NO LONGER HAS TO BE THIS SMALL. THESE ARE OLD PICTURES FROM WHEN THEY HAD TO BE SMALL.
