Camera control help
« on: June 25, 2015, 07:47:21 pm »
First off: My movement keys are the arrows, and my camera keys are the WASD.

Now: I want to make it so that when my character turns in a direction, the camera also follows.

In most games, when you turn, say, left, the camera follows, and you see your characters back most of the time.

I don't want to constantly be moving around the camera just so that I can see what's in front of me when I turn, so is this even possible in Feral Heart?

It would be a real shame if it wasn't, because this game looks like a lot of fun...  :(

I don't think you can do that, sadly.

Unless you make a mod but if that wasn't made by now (I guess) then it's unlikely it's possible.

Gee, that sucks.  :(

I just find the current movement/camera control to be EXTREMELY awkward.

Geezus, now that I think about it... Any room/world with cliffs will be practically impossible for me to maneuver if I can't see what's in front of me...

It takes time getting used to the controls and camera movement if you're used to it being the other way. I'm sorry, Emma, but I don't think there's a whole lot that can be done about it.

How do you move your camera? With the arrow keys or with the mouse?
If you are using the arrow keys, then I can see how awkward it could be. I use the mouse, by holding down right-click and just dragging it about. It makes the movement a whole lot quicker and it's an easier way to get the desired effect you want. This means that you, of course, need to move your character with the WASD keys. I hope this helps.

Change your camera movment a and d to whatever you move with in this case probs left arrow and right arrow key. There is a mode where the character follows the camera i don't remember what button you had to press but you could try it out.
Note this way it is more like when you hold your foward key you can turn the character like that. But when just holding the left or right arrow key the character won't move. Hope I made myself understandable.
Edit: I don't really like it but you can try it out.
shhh noone knows me

What WolfKate said, that could work as well. Try a few different ways, change up the controls and so on. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I'm a dope, guys.

I held down the right mouse button, and, while holding forward, the camera turns with me.

You are definitely not a dope. Sometimes it just takes a little adjusting to get things the way you want them. Glad you got your problem resolved.

Correct me if I am wrong. But how I am reading this, ye wish to 'ave y'er character's body always facing forward with the camera, yes? Well, if ye press the right control button (CTRL), ye shall lock y'er character's camera to facing forward. 'Tis was a pain when I first started out, but once I found the right control button, things went much more smoothly.

Again, sorry if I read this incorrectly. 'Ave fun floof!
