Connected to front server, but won't load any characters
« on: December 06, 2015, 12:49:36 am »
So ever since this hacking thing I've tried using the browser to log in and play, and it'll gonnect to the front server, but when it goes to load my characters it constantly stays on that screen and won't let me get past it. It's won't show any characters, just the loading box.

Any advice? Is it just bad internet or...?

I cannot find a solution for this...

First thing I suggest doing is turning the router off for a few seconds and then turning it on again.
Second thing I'd try is re-installing the game, make sure to delete the FeralHeart folder if you choose to do so.
RETIRED.

I had this problem a few times, and its probably because while you were loading up the tab that you had opened spit you out. Or maybe you accidentily closed out? Perhaps you could also try the solution said above. :3

Maybe it's your connection?
Just to be sure you should check out if all your characters are still ''there''.

To check that out go to forum and then go to User Panel. Then you login and see if anything happened to your charries. Just in case

I believe this would the fault of a glitch or it could be possible you are missing a certain game file.
Then again, the characters not loading could have to do something with your connection.
Otherwise, I would presume your last resort is to set the game back to default.

Good afternoon everyone,

I am currently facing the same problem and I can tell you, from the three solutions listed, it's unlikely it's one of the first two: your internet or router (if you have a good connection). I recently got a new router and boosted the speed of our internet; I had the issue before and thereafter. It could be the game, a missing file or link of some sort but as above, seems unlikely.

If your game ran before, it only stopping recently (after the update, which I am grateful of as it allows those whom used Feral-Heart as a method of relief to continue acting as their support), then all files necessary should still be in tact, otherwise it wouldn't have ran properly. Am I correct? I can vouch for this as I recently was forced to re-download the game; got a new computer. Now given, this was a month back but since then, I haven't messed with the internal files it downloaded alongside the base programming. I would have, had I been more like my younger self, engrossed in creating maps and presets. Anyway!

I shall be attempting to re-download the game tomorrow. I cannot say if it'll work but I'll update you on the results should those partaking in this thread be interested; though, I assume it's already been done by one of the participants. If so, any luck?

While this issue is being sorted, I'm looking forward to reading all possible solutions. Feral-Heart's grown on me, as much as I omission to concede such.

I didn't say it was the connection or router specifically. But I've noticed on the update a few browsers preform better with the opened tab. Other spit you out, and it has nothing to do with your internet connection. Anywho, the browser I've found that preforms best is Google Chrome. However, testing it out with each browser on your computer is a good idea. I know when I was using Mozilla Firefox I was often spit out while at my character screen, causing the 'sprites' or whatever you'd prefer to call them, to promptly disappear. I haven't tried Safari, though. So I'm unsure of how well that may or may not work out. However, its a good idea to probably experiment on the browser your own, to see if the problem could be originating there. Also, for whatever browser you are using, make sure you haven't disabled the cookies. As that may cause problem as well. I will be looking into it more, and updated all of you with whatever I find. I doubt the any internal game files are missing, because if so, FH would usually be unresponsive at the start up when opening it and you wouldn't even get to the character screen. Unless you dabbled in your media>Textures folder or media>terrain. Those of which I messed with a few times and screwed up FH, which I then couldn't see my chars and had to redownload.

This issue seems to be strange, I believe the biggest possibility would be the connection itself since not many are facing this problem at the moment.

Connected to the Front Server | Characters Won't Load
« Reply #8 on: January 06, 2016, 04:56:51 am »
Good afternoon again,

I am aware this thread hasn't been responded to in a little over a month, but as of January 3rd, 2016, I believe I found a possible solution (out of many) to the problem this thread focuses on. Before I proceed to the explanation however, allow me to make something clear. The following context is not written to poke at anyone or their idea(s); it is a statement on how I mended my missing characters/disconnection. It may interlace other's ideas but it is not my intention to belittle them.

It's a combination of all the solutions stated on this thread: internet connection, web browser and extensions. If the connection falters during the duration one attempts to connect, the needed communication from the game to the "new cookie" (update) will not be made, resulting in the loss of server connection or missing characters. If the web browser blocks said communication, such as Firefox, the results are mimicking. So as recommended by others who've responded, check the browser being used to connect- if it's disabling the needed connection I aforementioned, and make sure there's a decent internet speed. If that includes the router (mine did not), restart it and attempt again. As for the extensions, that goes hand in hand with a fourth factor I did not mentioned. It is regarded as the "spitting out" of the new update's login screen. I once would have agreed to such a title, as it becomes it, but I believe there's a better way to describe the action. Instead of spit, it renders.

After both tabs were open (the update's screen login and FeralHeart.exe) and after I logged into both, the former before the latter, the game rendered my login information. It then sent the request to login out and once accepted, brought me to the character loading screen, which brings us back to the reason we're reading this thread. It was blank. Though it's probable those facing this current problem are about to disagree, speaking it doesn't work, I returned to the tab one needs to keep open to successfully play Feral-Heart, to witness it'd logged me out. Confused I re-logged and entered my login information again. It took a few minutes and several refreshes of said page, but the characters finally showed. The same process happened when I selected the character I wanted to use; it asked me to re-log.

The new update renders the login information- uses it as a token, much like an arcade game. When the credit is used, it wants the player to enter another token (in regards to Feral-Heart: login information) to continue. However, if the process of entering another token takes too long, all credits (Feral-Heart: connection) are lost. Then the player is presented with "Game Over" (Feral-Heart: "server cannot connect"). It takes forever (me approximately 40-60 minutes each time I switch maps/characters) and constant "game over" screens, but with patience, I can use the program.

If one is serious about using Feral-Heart and you've found yourself with this issue, attempt this solution. It may not work, but it's an option. Should you use it though, I recommend using the browser Chrome and downloading these two extensions: auto-refresh and auto-login. I'll link them below.

To be honest, it hasn't made the amount of time it takes me to access the game shorter but it has brought the probability up. Not to mention, if it does request me to re-log while I'm in the game, it does so automatically. There's no more random disconnections mid-game, which I am absolutely thankful of as it's 40 to 60 minutes I do not have to spend reconnecting.

Here's the update I stated I'd make in my previous passage. The re-downloading of the game had no effect.

Auto-Login
Auto-Refresh [Set: 30-50 seconds]

PS. The reason behind the duration between this post and my last is a) I didn't want to give false facts, b) a mindless, unnecessary post and c) at first, I was under the illusion nothing was wrong with the login screen. It wasn't until January 3rd, 2015, I discovered the "rendering" and found the pattern aforementioned. Prior to this discovery, the updates screen continuously displayed it's infamous idiom; it did not change unless forced (aka refreshed).
