Let me give you the real talk, straight up deats about what goes down in-game.
You got the cape of distant worlds- you should probably only go there to get to your downloaded maps, because that's where their portals are. Unless, of course, you speak croatian or some other very obscure language. It's a real mixing pot in there.
Then there's the south pole. Huskies, basically, and then endless empty plains of snow. :/ there's a portal to atlantis in there, and then a portal to last cave somewhere in atlantis, but I can garnet there will never be more than, like, three people in those two maps.
up above lonely cave is ascension island. It's basically a parkour course that leads up to Sky's Rim. (hint: 'set home' button saves your progress on the parkour. use it. trust me, you'll wish you had when you're falling for 50000 years after missing a jump)
sky's rim is a mystical, magical land of floating islands and waterfalls. You'll want some wings.
If you go through the portal at the cape of distant worlds, you'll come to fluorite plains. This is where all the big leagues hang out. It's the most popular map, always. You'll find loads of realistic wolfies and kibbens. A lot of people will be advertising their groups with movie clips. You can find a lot of crazy stuff in flourite, too- hens, raccoons, dragons, etc.
There's ficho tunnel, the hub of FNAF, slender men, flying pokemon monsters, etc. Lots of neons. If you have photosensitive seizures, be careful of ficho. Just kidding, it's not that bad.
then beyond ficho is bonfire island. It's small and is the second most populated place next to fluorite. You'll see adoption centers, mate center, horses, more FNAF, and more lion king characters than you could imagine. Seriously. I'd bet you $200 that you could go in there right now and find a two Nalas.
Inside of flourite plains is also a portal that leads to the peaceful, secluded map of the Temple of Dreams. It's pretty, and not many people go there.
