Preset Wont Work
« on: October 04, 2016, 12:27:36 am »
I made a preset, I followed a tutorial on youtube and did everything she did. The tutorial was Feral Heart Preset Tutorial by StarStriderLP. I exported the preset into the file named Preset_7. It was all there, but when I went onto feral heart and went to the preset maker and clicked on Preset_7 my character was yellow and black (same with all the other preset files that had nothing saved to them). I've asked many people for help but none of them know what's wrong. If anyone could tell me what was wrong I would be extremely grateful.

Try this!
http://www.feral-heart.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10&Itemid=17
Also if that doesn't work can you send me what your material file says and what you have written as the file names for each?
Like the head, tail, body, mane, eyes.
Ex. Preset_1eye.jpg

I go to WindowsC: --> Feral Heart folder --> My_Presets
In the folder Preset_9, there are the preset guidlines that I downloaded off deviantart. I used those to color the preset and then exported them into the file named Preset_7 (I tried Preset_8 folder but that didn't work either).
For example, the right side of the body guidelines is labeled YourNameBody_Right. After I colored it, I named it IvyBody_Right, and I exported it from gimp file to a .jpg file. Then I went onto FH preset maker to make sure there weren't any errors in the coloring but it wasn't in the Preset 7 tab. I also downloaded a friends preset to be able to see it but that's also not in the preset maker on FH. I put the friends preset in the Preset instead of My_Presets, because that's what I was told to do.
I hope I answered your response as you wanted /)^(\

Did you change the file names in the preset material file too?
Example. It may be called Preset_1body.jpg and you didn't change it in the material file thus not being read in-game. You need to match the file names up with the file names in the material file.

EDIT: Send me your material file. copy and paste it all and post it here.

I'm not sure how I'm suppose to copy the file onto here? But you're right, the material file content is labeled as you say. And I've changed the name of the presets and named them Preset_7body.jpg and Preset_7Head.jpg. The head seems to work. The body probably doesn't work because I only have the right half done. I will do the other half of thebody and see if that works. Thank you so much for the help. I'll get back to you when I finish the rest and see if it works. :D

To add, when making double sided presets (works for body, head, eyes, and equipt aka wings only, not the tail or the mane), you have to go into the preset's .material file and change the texture names to "preset_7bodyRight.jpg" and "preset_7bodyLeft.jpg". You can do this on any of the other parts this works on. NOTE: the .material code should indicate which is left and which is right, on the lines that say "material preset_7_bodyMatL" and "material preset_7_bodyMatR", so change the texture name to the sides of the preset those correspond with, EX. "material preset_7_bodyMatL" corresponds with "preset_7bodyLeft.jpg", etc.

Ok so I finished my preset. Everything works except for the eyes. They worked when I only had one eye color but after I did one color for the right eye and one for the left it stopped working. I changed the names to Preset_7EyesRight, Preset_7EyeRight, Preset_7EyeR, Preset_7EyesR, EyesRight. Nothings working for the eyes.
Also, I ended up doing just one side for the body so both sides are the same.

Remember to check the material files and match those suckers up! :)
Also make sure they are correct because sometimes when you think you have it as jpg it's png. Or Png when it should be jpg.

I did DX The eyes are .jpg file in the materials folder. I changed the eyes from .jpg to .png just to see if it would work but it didn't work either away. Everything else works I just need the eyes.
