Downloading Issues
« on: March 22, 2017, 01:23:34 am »
Recently, I have been attempting to download a number of items including maps and mods. Sometimes these downloads worked, but other times they did not.
I attempted to download Wolfy's Gate Mod (or Alfie's... idek). However, the mod did nothing. The same issue occurred when trying to download a map called Aurora Mountain. Nothing happened. Despite these failures, I was able to download both the Legendary Markings and Legendary Items mod with few problems. (which problems are normal for my computer so)
Note that I am using a Mac, if this affects anything.
If you know anything about this issue, please reply.  ;) Thanks!

May I ask quickly if there were any directions to follow in the download (Like a readme file)? There's a possibility that you may have missed a step or two in order to properly install them, so if there is a directions file in the download, try checking it out. Since downloading the Legendary stuffz was no sweat for yew, I dun think it would be a problem with your game. Have you tried downloading any other Gate mods that did work? Or is just this one giving you a hard time?

Check and see if it's downloads from a certain location/url that aren't working. Example: Downloads from Mediafire only or from Dropbox only, etc. That way we can rule out if there's any type of browser interference.

Yeah, there were directions in the mod, but I made sure I followed them all. I haven't tried any other mods.
The only website I've used is MediaFire.

It seems like you have, but make sure you are following the instructions entirely. I think I have some of the maps you were mentioning that weren't working. For Aurora Mountain specifically, the instructions text file tells you to place files in 3 different locations in your FeralHeart directory.

Side note: Make sure you don't accidentally don't have two FeralHeart folders/games installed on your PC as you may be installing the mods on one and using the FeralHeart.exe of another. This is unlikely, but just incase all else fails, this would be something to look out for.

I've checked that I don't have copies, and I'm certain I've followed the directions entirely, unless I need to remove the items from the folders. I just tried redownloading, but that did nothing.

Maybe try redownloading a FeralHeart installer and reinstalling the game entirely. Sounds like a really weird bug which sometimes a full and complete reinstall may fix.

Were there any files it asked ye to replace? Anything important? It may be a new faulty file that is causing ye to crash. 'Ave ye tried downloading a new version of the mods and install using it?

Tmw you planned a ten minute nap but instead took a whole year.

Okay, I reinstalled FeralHeart, which deleted every marking and item on all of my characters, as well as my maps that I'd been working on, and it still did nothing. Again, Legendary Markings and Items downloaded just fine, but the map did not.
There was only a file it asked me to replace when I took the items out of the folders. Is this what I should be doing?

Ok, if the issue is still there after a clean install, 'tis not a faulty file and ye did fine. What I meant on the replacing files is that one of the mods may 'ave had a file connected to an important game-running file which would need to be replaced in order f'er the mod to work, but that's no longer in question.

Before I start the next possible way to fix this, check y'er particle folder f'er any copies of files. If ye see any ending in an underscore and number, delete them.

Search y'er computer f'er any and all FH files and delete them. If there are files ye really want to keep, put them on a USB and hold on to them until after ye reinstall FH. Make sure to download a new installer, just to be sure that ye don't get any faulty files installed as the original installer ye've got may be broken.
