Yes. In object maker you can type in the mesh thing "FlatPlane.mesh" and it comes up with a tiny image half buried in the ground. This can be changed to a picture you can draw in like, MS paint or photoshop and put the picture in "my_objects" folder. To apply it to the mesh i use the "material" method.
Now in the objects folder, you might find a folder with "planes" and stuff. This is where i sourced the material basics, if you need a better explanation i can so that later.
