Game Discussion / Re: The Actual "New" Feral Heart?
« on: September 19, 2018, 01:32:28 pm »
[Quick Clarification / Reply]: I do hope I didn't seem rude or come off as negating what the community and staff have done over the years. It wasn't my intention because I do acknowledge what has been created, improved, and worked on. It in turn is how I ended up thinking about making the topic in the first place, because of the potential, so to speak. :) I appreciate the feedback so far and I'd love to receive as much as possible (if possible). I'm happy a few (or more) of you see something I may not or experience something I may haven't.

Game Discussion / The Actual "New" Feral Heart?
« on: September 19, 2018, 04:34:48 am »
[If this topic is similar to any other relevant topic, then I’m sorry for repeating someone else’s ideas.]

Hello, everyone! I’m an old time player and I haven’t been around in at least a few years. I’ve poked around the game and forum every so often from a force of habit and just to see how the community has been holding up. Hellos and introduction out of the way, allow me to go ahead to the topic, we’re busy people. (Also, I'm not anyone with any authority of Feral Heart, I'm just a player :) ).

Feral Heart has been around for a long time now. I am sure we’ve heard and said this a thousand times before, "we can’t change [-blank-] about the game because we don’t have the source code." After all this time, I can safely say the original creator is never coming back nor has any intention to allow access to the code.

Feral Heart is one of the few games I know that seem to be at a standstill. In an age of growing progress in technology and new talents coming up every day, you would think a community rich place like Feral Heart would make meaningful changes (yes, I know, there have been few changes, but hear me out). With all the limitations Feral Heart faces in its current and outdated state, why can’t Feral Heart simply be revamped? From the game engine, the models, the animations, everything.

These changes would include practically anything and everything the community has been asking for years. From providing central chats, different species, improved mechanics, services from reliable third parties, if needed be, etc. Feral Heart could finally be free from its “code” shackles, the community could, at last, receive the changes they’ve desired, and the longevity of both would be cemented.

What do you think? Do you agree that Feral Heart should receive a complete remake?
Do you think Feral Heart is fine as is?

-----
[Personal Opinion]: I would like Feral Heart to be like other games I enjoy. Even if the game developers are far from perfect, they still experiment with and build their games the best they can be. I feel like Feral Heart wants to do the same, but it feels like something keeps it back.

I see people create amazing game projects and even tried making my own. Then I think about Feral Heart and ask, "wow, how would Feral Heart be if they tried [-blank-] or added [-blank-]." I’m not saying Feral Heart should try to be like other games, but evolve over time as they do.

Scotis that is some great work for your first time! The color scheme is really spot on and blends so nicely! I'll say it's that natural look that I love the most.

I have made some vital updates to the thread and shall continue on the community's interest. :)

I've added an important update about Unreal Engine being now FREE for everyone to use! I have also added a section for 3D modelling software that I know of or have used myself.

This thread is all about contribution, so if you have any pointers you want address and bring to everyone's attention, go for it! Once again, if I have searched something incorrectly or misinterpreted some vital information, let me know!

Hey, Rita! Sadly, this is the wrong board for that kind of game.
Your topic belongs with the other forum games found here, Click Me :D.

Oh! Come on! Everyone should know this song, I had to think about for a minute, then I was, "OH.. wait. Spirit! Duh, I've seen the movie!" Anyway, completing the lyrics.

"This is me,
There's no where on this Earth, I'd rather be."

Ha! Nailed it! I... actually feel kind of achieved right now. :)

I dont mean to be a peeve, but what are WolfSpeakers? I havent played FH in a while.

Wow, you really haven't been here a while, have you? Basically, "wolfspeakers" are role-players who use a set of incorrect terms to describe or replace commonly known terms with something else completely unworldly.

Or in Layman's terms, people who use one word when it really means another, mainly when they don't know, themselves of its original meaning.

Now, of its origin, most people speculate it derived from a game called, Wolf Quest, from the painfully limited text you could place in the text box when on multiplayer. With said "wolfspeak" terminology used the in the same manner on this game as well.

Discussion Board / Re: Your Thoughts On Plastic $urgery?
« on: July 07, 2015, 01:08:37 am »
Alright, so plastic surgery. I'll assume most people know what plastic surgery is; the reconstruction or restoration of the body for [insert here] reasons. Those reasons could range from being able to move and function properly to just looking "attractive."

I am not completely against plastic surgery in the lines of wanting to look good, I'll explain. While I don't like how some people half butcher their bodies to look enhanced or attractive, we should be appreciative they exist. Most body surgeries for appearance do not look very good to begin with and I see it as a learning experience. It also helps other people to look at those people and say, "you know, I'm ok just the way I am" then leave it at that.

I hate the thought of plastic surgery. God made everyone perfect. Modifying your body in unnatural ways should be heavily frowned upon. If you don't like your body, maybe try taking care of it!

Now, to the positives of plastic surgery, I think it's good. Like any other medical procedure, it's exactly that, a medical procedure. Plastic surgery, or rather cosmetic surgery has a more broader list of benefits and purposes. Other than that, unless you have a malfunctioned body part, severe obesity, suffering from gender dysphoria (GID), or anything else of mental /or phyiscal significance, leave the plastic out of your body.

You're alright the way you are, just take good care of yourself.

Nice journal to start you off since you're new! Don't feel bad, I can't swim either. There was a time I wanted to be a veterinarian, too. Then my interests changed and came to find I probably wouldn't make a good medical doctor, even for animals. You have a lot of company with you as far as people and pets, too, how do you stand it?
Hm, by the way, has your tarantula ever tried to escape before?

Game Discussion / Re: Groups Listed As "Nope!"

1. If the group is "Literate", but posts annoyingly long posts that I don't want to be bothered to reply to. I understand long posts sometimes in a battle but why can't people just roleplay in shorter sentences? I used to love literacy until I realized, it slows down roleplay and wastes the day away while waiting for slow typers to reply.
I agree with the quotation on "literate" and I'll say "literate" role-plays have a different meaning than some people think. It's really "multi-paragraph" rather than literate. I mean, if you can read and write while comprehending what's being said, you're technically literate. I don't like when people place literate and multi-paragraph posting as the same thing, it's not.

Anyway, multi-paragraph, can be fun, but on a game with a large group, it can get a bit tedious. If you're waiting for people to make their post out of ten or even five people, it can take a long time. Me, I don't mind reading and making creative paragraphs about what my character is doing. However, if you're someone who's often inpatient or likes to get a story rolling quickly, it can be boring. So of course, it's all about preference and not everyone share the same ones as far as posting style. Lately, I've been getting into a habit of creating shorter posts because people get more engaged and can play their characters right then and there, instead of having to wait. Also, you don't have to lash at someone for cutting your post off. :)

4. Groups that claim they will have a map and they never do.
It's always good to be prepared for a group you want to create. If someone has a mapped role-play, this is actually pretty common, I don't know why. If you're intending to have a mapped role-play, at least have the map already up and ready. When people join you and expect a map, try not to tease them with the anticipation of a mapped role-play with the group disbanding two weeks later because never having one.
