Selene

It was hard for Selene not to roll her eyes when Master Samuel caught up to her. She was exhausted and surely her job was at risk more and more with every second to delayed eeturning to Greta. "I'm sure I've seen you about. What exactly was my brother doing in there?" A hint of annoyance crept up in Selene's mind, but she made sure it didn't reach her cool features. Not even a thank you? Well, welcome to the life a of a servant. "I'm sorry, sire, but I really do not know. I came up here to tell Miss Klania of your injury when he arrived. I was told to find some kind of bottles and jars from the bedroom." With a quick nod of her head, she gestured to the bedroom. "I could not hear a word they were saying." Selene was shocked that the lies could slip so easily from her tongue, but she realised with a jolt of panic, that Klania knew not of her hasty excuse. Straightening up her tired posture, the brunette tightened her wings against her back hopefully for the last time today. She could feel the bandages that were wound around her chest and back begin to slip, causing more of an abrupt pain in her shoulders. Shifting uncomfortably, she awaited the future king's dismissal, although she expected further questioning.

[Gah, so much shortness]

Selene

Selene had not realised she had been holding her breath until the Prince had aimed a question towards her; opening her mouth to speak, she had let out a long breath, almost a sigh. She had been asked the question many times before, but she had long since come up with a fool-proof answer. The real story was much more brutal than the cover-up one. It had been many years since she had dared to even think of it, but now she could not help it. Her mind flashed back to the long cane coming down on her with such force, she screamed for the man to stop. Her father. The control freak. He would often strike her until her back was bloody with the same wretched cane because she had been seen and not heard, or her hair was unkept and messy. He liked everything to be perfect- her father. But nothing ever was good enough for him. She has been thirteen when she ran away with a suitcase containing her only comfortable dress and her teddy bear. Greta had found her lying huddled at the foot of the castle steps outside and taken her in. She was snapped out of her thoughts as the door burst open, causing her to openly wince.

As the King's face was revealed, Selene automatically bowed her head in respect, looking down at the floor as she was taught. With a jolt of embarrassment, she realised that she should have been doing the same with Master Ruben, but considering the circumstances the thought had slipped her mind. Already feeling a great amount of sympathy to the Prince, she had to bite her lip to stop herself from saying anything stupid in his defense. She dared a look upwards as the future king entered the room, and she darted a glance towards Klania, who seemed to be doing the same as her. The pain in her back was not becoming more that uncomfortable as she lightly shifted her wings to release them from their tension for just a second.

Raising her head completely as the Prince turned towards her, her eyes sparked with interest before she could avert her gaze. "Nice wings." Selene snapped her gaze back to Ruben, although her face was emotionless, her lips had paled and her cheeks had flushed. Years of keeping her mutation a secret and he had found out that easily? She watched after him as he turned and left, her head had began to hurt with exhaustion. After hesitating for a few seconds, Selene turned her gaze to Klania, "Greta will be looking for me, ma'am." She gave a quick nod of her head to the lead medic before turning to the royalty in the room. "Your highnesses." She bowed a small curtesy before turning to leave through the door behind her leading straight to the stairs for the servant's quarters.

Selene, still very much in shock after the events of the day, tried very hard to take in all of the information Klania had given her. Her mind seemed jammed up with questions, demanding to be answered, and it was giving her quite the headache. Determined not to show her current weakness to the lead medic, Selene bit her lip and pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind, where they still begged for her attention. The helper that had interrupted their conversation provided a simple distraction and Selene's crystal gaze slid over her, her face blank and emotionless for now. As the girl spoke, the brunette began to drum her fingers on the wooden arm of her chair, her patience growing thin with the girl's argument. Her lips twitched in amusement as Klania dismissed the girl and she cocked her head slightly as the servant looked at her. Well, now she's in for it with the other servants. She had never been popular in the castle, being Greta's quite obvious favourite, and had often got herself a beating from the other servant girls out of jealousy.

"Klania..." Selene's head shot up when the Prince's familiar voice called out. Looking down at her dress, she examined the torn mess of her skirts. They weren't too indecent, perhaps showing an inch or two of her stockings, but she still fumbled with the material to try and cover up as much as she could anyway. As Klania arose, Selene opened her mouth to speak, "But..ma'am, I'm-" she sighed as the lead medic turned her back and approached Master Ruben in the other room. As she was called out, she took a deep breath and stood up, taking her time to the doorframe.

Upon meeting the Prince's gaze, the servant performed a quick curtsey out of mere habit. "Your Majesty." Her voice, as usual, remained calm and careful, revealing nothing but respect as she had been taught. After a few seconds of silence, Selene glanced down at the wound. "Does it hurt?" Realising the ignorance of the question, the girl's eyes flashed. "I mean- does it hurt all the time?" Her tone- now braver- held a hint of curiosity, as it would if she was having a normal conversation, and perhaps even a layer of concern was noticeable. She was now standing a few steps away from the doorframe and her wings were curled impossibly tightly against her back, so tightly that her muscles began to ache with the tension.

Rayna Branwell

"Boring, as usual. Although I did meet two people, the lad seemed a little strange around me though. I don't know why..." A name immediately came to Rayna's mind, Colin Abell, the boy that was in few of her classes. She had spoken to him a few times and despite his good looks, he was an utter d*ck; but there was something about him that made her wonder. Charlotte's voice snapped her back to reality as the brunette's wrist was brought up to be admired. As she examined the patterns and spirals, Rayna was reminded of Charlotte's cousin, Jake, and his pack. She sighed, sometimes she wished that she could be part of a pack, but she was stuck with being a 'lone fox'. Glancing back at the forest once more, Char's words surprised her. "Let's go?" Rayna grinned. "Oh, God, yes."

Grabbing her friends hand, Rayna broke into a run and made her way to the forest, stopping only to tie her amazingly tiny bag to her leg. She had learned that trick from the Black pack, having met them only once, she had learnt much more of her ability and how to control it. Taking a deep breath in the concealment of the trees, she closed her eyes and shifted. The first time she had shifted, it had felt like her bones were all breaking and reforming and her skin was being torn off. She had looked at herself in the mirror and screamed- no, yelped- at the animal she was. Now it was only a pins-and-needles sensation, a short uncomfortable tingling and the growing of the world around her. Looking back to see where Charlotte was, the fox's muzzle stretched into a sharp-toothed grin. It had been such a long time since she had done this.

The journey to the reach had all been a blur to Selene. She had taken a deep breath and 'bounced' -a nickname she used for teleporting- to where she was told to be. It had been possibly the largest teleportation she had made in her life and  she had stumbled a small amount before regaining her balance and confronting the lead medic, Klania. She had managed to keep her tone calm and respectful, as she had been taught to do when speaking to those of higher class that her, while explaining to the medic of the scene outside. Klania had been oddly calm about the whole thing, but Selene guessed that it was part of her job.

The brunette was about to leave with the three other servants, but she stopped herself as groans of pain grew louder as they neared the reach. Selene's stomach twisted as Prince Ruben came into view, quite clearly in agony. She simply nodded as she was ordered to help the prince to the bed, and if she had struggled she had not shown it after the many long years of carrying heavy loads that normally only men would be expected to carry. Selene realised that she was being surprisingly calm about the whole ordeal and took a second to tie her mahogany locks into its usual servant's bun with only a ribbon. As Klania pulled away the material covering Master Ruben's torso, Selene bit her lip hard to prevent her from gasping. "Selene, hand me that syringe over there." The blue-eyed girl turned to where the woman had gestured to and lifted a large syringe, paling slightly at its size. She watched warily as the Prince calmed, falling into the unconscious state of healing.

"There's a lot to explain before he wakes, but I hope you'll keep this between us." Selene looked down at the now-sleeping prince and noticed with a hint of surprise at how peaceful he looked. Normally, his features would be laced with hatred or at least annoyance, but now he looked quite handsome if it wasn't for the gaping wound in his side. Selene had never known if she had liked Master Ruben or not. Although he was snappy and distant, he was also misunderstood and lonely; an outcast in his own kingdom. Tightening her wings behind her back, her mind flickered back to the fact that she, too, was an outcast. "Of course, ma'am. I understand."

It's okay, I was just worried I had done something wrong :3]]

Rayna Branwell

Rayna was beginning to wonder if she had been stood up when the distant sound of a motorcycle brought a smile to her face. Blowing a large bubble with her strawberry gum, the redhead stepped forward as the girl on the motorbike slowed to a stop. A sharp, familiar stab of jealousy pierced her but as she marvelled at the machine. Rayna had always wanted a motorbike, and now that her friend had one it just made them all the more enticing to her. "Don't tell me, you done one of your dumb-ass stunts to humiliate her in front of the class?" A few months ago, that comment would have hurt Rayna, but by now she was by far used to Charlotte's bluntness and grinned, a mischievous spark in her eyes. "Who can blame a girl?"

"I like that shirt."
She stated, eyeing the denim material. Lately, she had been the particularly attracted to the color blue and noted to herself that she needed to go shopping soon. Sub-consciously twirling a loose strand of hair around her fingers, she raised an eyebrow. "What'cha been up to then?" She muttered, following Char's gaze to the forest nearby. She understood the brunette's longing, to just shift and run free in the woods. As always, Rayna's bag contained a spare set of clothes. She looked down at it for a second before looking up at her friend, smirking. She was sure that Charlotte could guess what she was thinking, and she was even more sure that she would think it was a stupid, reckless idea.

Selene

Selene was surprised at how relaxed everything was; at how many were smiling and laughing; and at how little was going wrong. Yes, it was the Princess' birthday, but that would be no excuse for rebels attacking. She flexed her sore arm that had carried Vondila just a few minutes before. It turned out that she had ran away from her mother, a stuck-up upper-class woman that did nothing so much as nod her head in thanks toward the brunette for taking care of her daughter. The oddly familiar sound of an arrow being shot snapped Selene back to reality, watching in horror as the arrow buried itself into the future king's shoulder.

The horse beneath him reared in a state of panic and as the eldest prince hit the ground, Selene started forward. Pushing past what seemed like an endless crowd of shocked Fallon, she finally reached Prince Samuel and bent down to where he was lying. "Master Samuel!" She stared in shock for a second at the wound on his shoulder. "You've been shot." She stated stupidly, before hastily picking up the ends of her skirts and tearing a large section of it off. Most would view it as indecent, but right now, she had no choice. "Should we not remove what's left of the arrow?" A voice behind her barely even registered in her mind. "No, it's the arrow that is stopping most of the bleeding. We leave it in for the healers to deal with." She pressed the rags of her dress onto the wound, a slow stream of blood was trickling from it but nothing fatal- just yet.

Selene turned to the man that was, most annoyingly, leaning over her shoulder to watch. Her blood was drumming in her ears, her mouth was dry and her hands were shaking from the adrenaline that pumped through her veins. "Take this and hold it onto the wound. Do not take it off." She stood up as the man nodded, taking the bloody rag from her. "But where are you going?" The man asked, panic laced into his voice. But Selene knew something that no one but a servant knew. She knew that the castle staff had needed extra help with organising the party for the Princess, so they had ordered in some extra help. The healers that were meant to be standing by at the parade were up in the castle. The castle in which no one knew what was going on in the courtyard below. "I'm going to get help."

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply and the quality is so bad- I never realised I'd be quite this busy for the past few days! :3

Selene

For so early in the morning, the castle was teeming with servant and cooks and waitors all preparing for the celebration of Miss Valencia's birthday. Selene herself had just been getting in the way of things, apparently causing the bakers to burn their bread and the cleaners to have to start again on the floors. After a short time of trying to help, she finally sighed and stood by a window looking over the kingdom. If she narrowed her eyes, she could just about see the Royal Family mounting their horses for the parade. The sight made Selene smile. This was the day that all of the lies and the secrets and the rebellions could be forgotten. She felt a wave of fondness sweep over her towards the young Princess, she was possibly the only person that could bring the whole Kingdom together like this. "Selene." A sharp voice behind the brunette made her jump, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Sorry, ma'am. I was just-" She stopped herself as Greta, the cook and her boss, raised her hand for silence. "I know you want to be down there and, quite frankly, you're no help down here so I'm willing to let you go- as long as you are back here the second it finishes." Selene blinked in shock. "Really? Oh, thank you, ma'am!"

Pulling off her maid's cap and apron, Selene looked down at herself as she descended one of the many large staircases in the castle. Her grey dress would have to do for now, she sighed as she pulled the pins out from her hair and let it tumble down her back in loose ringlets. Glancing at her reflection in one of the passing windows of the castle, she realised that she no longer looked like a lady's maid, now more of a middle-class young lady. Taking a deep breath, a tug of nerves slowed her pace to a brisk walk as the sound of bustling people grew. Soon, the crowds of Fallon came into view, the many shades of wings merging into one beautiful colour display.

It did not take long for her to find a place amongst the crowd where she could see well enough. Craning her neck to see if anything was happening, a tug on her dress skirt caused her to look down to her right. A small, dark-haired little girl gazed up at her. "Excuse me, but I can't see." Selene's gaze softened as she bent down to the girl's height. "Where's your mother?" She asked, glancing around to see if she could see any frantic mother looking for her lost child. The girl shrugged and Selene sighed, straightening up and reaching down to scoop the child into her arms. Hoisting her up to a comfortable position, Selene turned her attention back to the parade. "What's your name, sweetheart?" She asked, addressing the girl that was half way between balancing on Selene's hip and resting in her arms. "Vondila, miss." The girl, Vondila, seemed comfortable enough so Selene relaxed. "I'm Selene. It's a pleasure to meet you." She smiled at the girl, her head snapping up as the sound of hooves followed by many cheers distracted her attention.

I'm just going to finish it there as I'm not quite sure what has really happened with the whole arrow thing xD Sorry haha ;3
