R E G N U M  -  E T H E R I A L

"In the beginning, there was only darkness."

Etherial; a realm of magic and adventure, a realm that can be so beautiful even as it rears it's ugly head. Once, it was a land of utter darkness, so dark that not even the brightest of stars could successfully shed it's light upon the land. Fog covered the land, there was no life, no beautiful, lush forests across the bountiful hills. The Earth was barren of grass, the world, was dark.

"Yet, so much beauty."

Despite this, there was potential. Potential to cover the dark and barren land in lush and beautiful forests, potential to spring flowers from the depths of the dead. Three Gods had saw such potential for the beauty it could hold, adopted the dark land as their own. They covered the cold ground in plush grass, they grew trees, and brush, and beautiful flowers that turned the darkness into a spectrum of life. The fog had cleared and given way to sunlight, they whispered their blessings upon the land, they birthed Etherial.

"A home.. to whom?"

The three mothers had created a beautiful land, but who would inhabit the land? The Three Mothers wanted only the best children to call such a place home, but what qualified as perfect? The First Mother had wanted her children to be wise, she wanted her children to be spiritual so that they would always be connected. The Second Mother, she wanted her children to be strong. Her children had to protect such a land, her children had to defend themselves against whatever was thrown their way. The Third Mother, however, wanted her children to be free. She wanted her children to run the land, to make their own choices, she would be there to guide them with her invisible hand, but they must learn on their own. Tension was rising within the three mothers, all with the best intent for their children, but not knowing what that intent was.

"Three siblings, one land."

Where The First Mother saw wisdom, the other two saw weakness. Where The Second Mother saw strength, the other two saw brutality. Where The Third Mother saw freedom, the other two saw recklessness. They bickered, and bickered, lightning thrashed across the sky, the world could tear apart - to save their land, and their future children, The Three Mothers split their separate ways, creating the three races, their three children, in what they saw to be their own perfection. Today, these three races remain, watched from above by their Mothers, in a beautiful land, created just for them.

Regnum Etherial is a largely mapped, detailed, lore-full, multi-species, literate fantasy roleplay. Choose between three races (that you may also mix). Sapientias (wolves), Potentias (big cats), and Licentia (dragons). The roleplay allows anything from wings, to magic, to weapons! We are brand new and in need of members to make this roleplay really shine! For more information, visit: regnum-etherial.webs.com, or, you can contact me through the site, or through Skype. (PM me.)

Boost! Took some time off from this due to finals and such, but I'm jumping back on! If all goes well, maybe it will be up within the next two weeks. ;)

Game Discussion / Re: opinion on 'literacy / illiteracy' divide
« on: January 13, 2017, 05:49:12 am »
I'm going to drop my two cents in, just because this kind of topic gets me going. FeralHeart is probably one of the only roleplay communities in which I've seen 'literate' and 'illiterate' be an accepted term when describing a writing style. In FH standards, being 'illiterate' has been molded into something entirely different from it's true definition, and the term illiterate in general, I feel, is just another way to strengthen this divide between the stronger writers and the weaker ones. 'Literate' roleplayers seem to forget that there are children on this game as well, and that they once started off with similar writing styles because simply, they didn't know much better. I can't stand when people stick their noses up at others in this game, honestly. I've been playing this game since 2012, and trust me, NEARLY ALL of us had that 'illiterate' phase.

I truly could give a flying duck how someone speaks to me in normal chat, whether it be proper sentences or abbreviations. However, in roleplay, I'd like to be given back what I put in; decent posts that aren't two to three sentences long. I need detail, I need content, I need to feel like the other person is interested or else I'm going to get awkward and feel annoying, or loose interest entirely. I'm not saying you need perfect grammar, perfect sentence structure, perfect spelling - nobody is perfect. We're all human. It also doesn't help that FeralHeart has no spell check, either. But I need to see some sort of effort (and be able to read what you're writing to me) in order to enjoy a roleplay experience. I do take roleplay samples for my groups, and I have no problem giving them; and I like to believe I'm farely lenient when it comes to grammar and spelling. As long as I can seen that someone is putting forth the effort, and if their writing is readable, than I don't see a reason to reject someone from a 'literate' group.

I had taken a break from FH for awhile to join other communities, and when I rolled back in, I resented the term 'literate' just because it was so ignorant. But unfortunately, I find myself still having to use this term when advertising, or looking for groups to join, because it seems to be the accepted term through out the game, and there's really no way display your group's writing requirements anymore.  After General/Global chat was removed, you're extremely limited, so you have to spit out requirements in the easiest and shortest way possible, 'lit', 'semi-lit', etc. I unfortunately don't see the terms going anywhere as they're just accepted as game lingo at this point, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets irked by it.

oh geez I rambled I'm sorry lol.

Incorporating BlazingJosh's idea with the multiple species, I was planning on making three different species or 'races' available to play. A dragon based, a canine based, and a feline based. Not necessarily wolves/lions, but the same type concept, if I'm making any sense right now. Members would be able to make anything from a fox to a wolf, or a cat to a lion, and it would be considered the same species. It will make way more sense when I'm able to plan it out fully, but basically, you're pretty much going to be able to create whatever you want.

Also, I'll notify everyone when the roleplay is up and running! I've already started making a map. cx

That sound's like a very solid plan, Mister! I wouldn't mind joining, but I'm not the most active player. Have you planned that far, yet?

Thank you! Also, I wasn't planning on being super strict with activity (I never really am), especially since I'm a busy student, so I feel like it's never really fair to kick someone just because they can't sit at a computer every day. I'm not sure when this roleplay will be ready to begin, I'm still kind of in the planning stage, I've barely put a dent in the map and I've spent at least four hours on it already.
That sounds good! I'm kinda in the same boat, being a student, too. I wouldn't mind joining then, whenever it is ready!

Alrighty, I'll let you know when it's ready to join!

I'd love to join this; I hardly see any fantasy roleplays on FH, which is truly disappointing. Fantasy RPs are the most unique because of how much variety is available.

And a suggestion: Perhaps there could be "tiers" of some kind? Then you could have both big cats and domestic cats as different tiers. I don't know if this would work any way with what you've got in mind, but it is just a suggestion, after all.

Fantasy RolePlay?! I'm in. Although I wouldn't go the Warrior Cats route as I've seen WAY too many of them lately. I'd so go for more big cats like Lynx's, Ligers, Or some none real ones. And Dragons are cool. I've not seen a very successful Dragon RP.

Good to hear! I haven't been on the actual game in quite some time, so I didn't know if the cat roleplays were getting out of hand again. Last time I was on, it was mostly wolf packs.

Why, this sounds mighty interesting! If I may ask, why limit what species are included? Why not multiple? It would appeal to many more people, I think.
I was scared that it may get a little chaotic, but you actually just gave me an idea. B) Which will probably take more work but it's fiiiiiine.

*crashes through the wall* fantasy roleplay you say???
i'd love to join along this adventure, it's good to see such a diverse choice in species to choose from!
i'm curious to see how this goes, and how far it stays flourishing, and fantasy roleplays are hard to come by nowadays
sign me up!
-screech- I'm glad somebody is interested, it at least gives me SOME motivation to start this lmao. I'm almost starting to lean towards a dragon centered species now, not quite sure. ewe Anyways, I'll let you know if/when this is ready to go if you're still interested!

I've never posted on the FH forums in my life, so forgive me if I posted this in the wrong spot.

If you're interested in large, 'free' fantasy roleplays, this is the thread for you!
Okay, anyways, I've been wanting to make a fantasy roleplay for awhile now, but I don't want to put a whole lot of work into it, get two members, and then watch it die. (That's been happening on FeralHeart a lot lately, it's kind of depressing. :c) I want to see if anyone would be interested in it to begin with before I work on making a map, a site, a storyline, etc. I also have too many ideas running through my head! Again, I'd like to see if anyone is even interested before I put time and effort.

One thing I know for sure, is that the map will be large, as detailed as my lazy self can get it to be, there will be no set packs/groups/clans etc, (set by me, at least, everyone will be free to do as they wish within the map), it will be magic-based, and it will have multiple playable 'races', depending on what species I end up setting this around..

Now, I should really cut to the chase. I have ideas for almost everything EXCEPT for what species I'd like this to be, however, these are the ones I'm considering:
- Wolves.
- Foxes.
- Smaller cats, like Warrior Cats.
- Big cats.
- Dragons.

As of now, I am leaning more towards cats (big or small), or wolves. There will be little to no set-backs on how characters are designed (unless there's a way a certain race should look in regard to color scheme, size, etc, but you will not be required to make strictly realistic characters), the use of magic, alchemy, and items will be allowed. This roleplay would have more mature themes as well, but that's to be expected. I will be requiring roleplay samples at a 'literate' (ugh that term) level.

I'm just curious if anyone would join (as well as what species it should be focused on), or would even wish to help me create/manage a roleplay this size.
