I wanted to put this on one of the existing threads, but I wasn't sure if it would really fit. I didn't want to start a whole new thread just for this, but it worries me enough that I feel something should be said about it.

Recently I've come across quite a few people using the word "gay" as a negative term. The people I heard it from seemed to otherwise act very maturely in the general scheme of FH, so this confused me. On every occasion where I heard someone say it, more or less immediately they were asked not to use it in that context by several other people. And on every occasion(yes, it was definitely different people each time, not just one goofy floof) the person laughed it off and asked how we could possibly find it offensive. The most recent one said "Hahaha ok, 'homosexual' then XD"
It confuses me to no end that anyone in this day and age, and certainly anyone who plays games like FH, could find it ok to do this and laugh about it. If some particularly impressionable younger player were to hear them doing it, they could very easily think "Oh that older person is doing it, so it must be ok."

I don't know, really. I might just be overreacting to an immature kid having a joke, but these people genuinely seemed not to understand what they were doing wrong by using the word "gay" as a derogatory term. Myself having many gay friends, and being very proud that my country has recently legalised marriage equality at last(New Zealand frick yeah!), it just seems like such a massive step backward that there are still people who think this way.
Thoughts?

In the case of a possible stalker I would take a slower approach because of course it may be a coincidence. But in the case of definite bullying or trolling I'd report them lickety-split.

Game Discussion / Re: Literates and illiterates, maps and no maps...
« on: June 07, 2013, 09:02:39 am »
Hmm yes, some people do feel the need to pick on the "illiterate" members, which is a shame if they were just having fun roleplaying. However as a roleplayer, I consider myself to be in the literate category, and on occasion I do find myself getting a little frustrated with these other people because I simply can't understand them sometimes. On the whole I just RP with people I enjoy talking to, and their literacy level doesn't matter too much. But it's like wolfspeak really, the issue is not necessarily how well they can spell everything, it's whether I can understand their post. And with wolfspeak, I certainly can't. XD
As for the mapped vs. mapless part, I find it hilarious that some members consider mapless groups to automatically be illiterate and "nooby", as you put it. I've joined many a mapless group and found them to be at the pinnacle of literacy, especially compared to some mapped groups I've been in.
I like your last point too, literate and mapped roleplays completely avoid the problem of those pesky den claimers. Hmm, been a while since I joined one like that, actually...excuse me. O3O *poofs away to find one*

Game Discussion / Re: Ranting topic! (Rant about what ever you want)

Ugh. Just joined a MLP group with multiple literacy levels, which is fine. But suddenly, Wolfspeak. And people claiming that Wolfspeak = literate RP. *flips all the tables* I won't go on, because the rant I could write about Wolfspeak would take up a whole book's worth of writing.

Game Help / Irritating movie glitches

This isn't a massive issue that affects the game too much, but it's been going on for some time now and I really ought to get it fixed. Essentially, a while ago I had to reinstall FH and now whenever I go to watch a movie someone's made, I only get their text, but no other visuals. Most of the time it doesn't matter, but all the same I'd like to get rid of this problem. I've considered that it may be a missing file somewhere, but I really don't know where to start. (Also, though this may not matter, if I happen to be looking at the person who made the movie, they do change pose as they normally would but their custom camera angles and so forth don't work.)

Another fun little story for all my floofs! This time I wasn't a herbivore character, I was a pup, but a similar degree of rudeness was exerted by the killer.

I was at the Adoption Centre, and a panther came up. They told me that they were adopting me,(in the most literate language I'd seen all day, I might add), but I was a tad suspicious as a giant panther wanting to raise and take care of a pup on this game didn't add up. After a little bit I agreed to go with them, and they proceeded to take me out to a secluded spot of Fluorite. I was very suspicious of them at this point, but they simply talked to me at first. They asked about my character's parents, and I responded that my character didn't know, in fact the two of them just hadn't come home one day and he assumed they had been killed.

The panther began this sinister monologue about how panthers aren't monsters(which is also what they told me when I asked them at the AC if they were going to eat me), and how my parents most likely weren't killed by one. After a little bit of that, I asked them straight up if they were going to eat me or not. At this point, they RPed(very badly) pinning me down and grabbing my hind legs. Of course, I went straight out of character and told them I wasn't going to be their snack. Then they did the typical thing, they called me a coward and various other abusive names as I went back to the AC.

This whole situation....I can't even. Seriously? They were so low, they adopted a pup from the AC to go and kill it in the middle of nowhere? They didn't ask if I wanted to RP that, they insulted me when I stood up for myself, and generally put me in the most horrible mood ever. At least the slightly illiterate fools who maul my horses in Bonfire don't go to such elaborate lengths. You know they're going to murder you. I was under the impression that this person was going to take care of me, and when they actually bothered to send me a friend request I thought that must be the case. But this? I'm done. I'm so done. This person was a real goofy floofball(for want of a MUCH stronger word), and they didn't even say sorry for tricking me like that. It's not usually my style to call out individuals, but this was too far. Look out for Shadowscar1, they're a real bad egg and a poor roleplayer if ever I saw one.

Game Discussion / Re: Spot claiming in Fluorite.

Ah, space claimers. I've lost count of how many reports I've sent about them, it may literally be over fifty by now. I just find it so adorable that they think they can own space on a public map that they had nothing to do with creating. Of course, sometimes it's just a matter of whether they're OOC or IC, and what they assume you're being when you come in. On occasion, I've explained that I wasn't RPing and the potential claimers happily ignored me after that. But for the most part, I love when they come at me with their caps and their rage faces. Just so cute ^-^

This is essentially going to be a thread for sharing the times you've been on a herbivore character, and someone has assumed that you're ripe for the killing.
You know how it goes. You're just sitting there on your deer character, enjoying the atmosphere and watching people RP. All of a sudden some great beast runs up and instantly "kills" you, or begins hunting you down. No prior warning, not even time to RP back most of the time. All rather vexing to say the least, and enough to spoil anyone's good mood.

So, I'll start off with an experience I had just a moment ago.

I was in Bonfire(first mistake, I know) on one of my stallion characters, semi-afk, generally enjoying myself. A red and black character, a self-proclaimed "monster", lay next to me and I began a friendly RP with them. This is how it turned out.

Me: "May I help you, my good.." he looked the creature up and down. "...lady?"
Monster: for what
Me: "...I do not know. But since you lay so near me, I was under the impression you wanted something."
Monster: im just looking for food rlly i shriek slightly at the stally
Me: "I'm afraid I can't help you in that respect."

(at this point, a mare came up and started talking to me as well, making the whole situation rather confusing for a while as I was trying to talk to both)

Monster: siighs at stallion ur dinner now ((when im ur u respawn
Me: Uhh....you're not eating me. This isn't a prey character.))
Monster: im hunting srsly))
Me: And I don't want to be hunted. Find someone else.))
Monster: just go along with le rp))
Me: No.))
Monster: un role player
Me: I don't want to be eaten just because I'm a herbivore, you rude little monster.))
Monster: idc u tiny little mouse rat ):<00
Me: Not every herbivore character wants to be hunted and killed for your amusement. Ask first.))
Monster: I SAID U CAN RESPAW WTF MAN
Me: And I said I didn't want to RP being killed. Respect that.))

Ugh...people. After this they ran away, and a few minutes later they apparently saved a guinea pig from a fox...consistency, I can haz it? Nope.
It's bad enough being attacked for food, but what really gets me is when they act like you're a bad roleplayer for not wanting to be murdered. Great.
