Game Help / Re: Terrain crashes the game
« on: February 27, 2012, 11:23:01 am »
If you check the 1000s of boards about this exact kind of thing, there really is no way to fix it other than to redraw the map or design a new one or change any white shades you've used to a darker one if you've already double checked that it's grayscale, 513x513 and in the terrains folder. If you made it in Gimp, when you select "New" under the file option, go to advanced settings and set it to grayscale from there instead of changing it when you've already set up the layer. Ignore this if you already tried it or did it in the first place or did not make the map in Gimp, and just re-draw or re-design the map.

I tried redrawing it, I made it A LOT simplier than the first one, the game keeps crashing. Thanks for answering by the way, seems like people go around my topic... D:

Lol a lot of people don't know the solution to this problem, it's not that we go around it. I'm still trying to find a thread that will help. ;)

I figured it out! I just changed it from png to jpg and it started working. :) Thanks for help everyone!

Game Help / Terrain crashes the game

I wanted to learn how to make maps, so I went on youtube and searched for a vid that shows how to make height maps. So, I followed every step made in the video. I went to the map maker and wrote the terrain mask name on Terrain Alpha Map; everything worked fine. Then I tried to write the terrain name on Terrain Height Map; my game crashed. What could've possibly went wrong?
-Yes, the terrain is all gray, white and black, no other colors. It's in grayscale.
-Yes, the terrain is 513 x 513.
-Yes, the terrain is saved in terrains folder.

Gracious, I had no idea about this. I should probably go and see if I get the same reaction. Endless Plains, is it?

Yup, and now I encountered another problem; I have to redownload the game everytime I quit it, otherwise it won't work anymore. It's like...a signle-use installation. That means I can't delete those sand files. But I found a way to run from it; go underwater and the storm won't show.

FH has sandstorms now? i better be  careful then because i get headaches quite easily :I it even happens when i come upstairs from the basement. change of altitude maybe? XD

I've only seen sandstorms in Endless Plains...but Simba said they last up to 3 in game days, which is way too long. Can't even see the map anymore.
endless plains isn't even made of sand! (or is it? because i can't see the true terrain masks of maps :3) anyway 3 in game days lasts like what 1 and a half hours? thats way too long -,-

I had a talk with Simba, he(or she, I dunno.) said that he'll shorten it to half. I said that it should be shortened even more than that, my friend threw up because of that sandstorm! Anyhow, he also told that you can delete the effects of sandstorm; Go to FH+, then to media and then to sky, then delete all files that say "sand" in it. (I know messing with the files is against the rules, but Simba gave me a permission to do so. Fair enough. ) I haven't tried it yet though. I really hope the next update will be here soon and they make the on/off button in the game.

Game Help / Re: No Maps in FH+

@Scotty, I haven't been able to even got to the Endless Plains x3 MY character, Lucius, is stuck somewhere between Bonfire Island and Ficho Caverns XD

@Autumnsauce, you tried what? To move all your characters to Bonfire and set the home points to there, and then log in on FH+ and the system crashed? Sounds typical. Just give it some time between crashed, maybe 5 minutes or so to sort its face out. Might work, might not.

I'm just loosing hope/faith/trust...oh and patience XD

Oh that's a shame. I hope you'll get there soon though. :3 Now I'm going to get painkillers, my headache just got worse, thank you sandstorm. (I hate you Darude (you're awesome if you got the joke.))

Part of the problem is Kovu's very bad planning. He's set the home-point to Lonely Cave in FH. which is non existant in FH+, so we're stuck.

Scotty: the trick is to log back into the normal FH, get all your characters to Bonfire Island and then set the home point for that. Then log back into FH+ and you should be in the Bonfire Island there. Whether or not you'll be able to get out of Bonfire without the server crashing on you, is a different kettle of fish all together.

Yeah, I figured it out, but still when I quit the game and try playing with the same character which I left (for example) at Endless Plains, it's all black, but this fixes when I redownload the game. Annoyning, yes, but it works. I hope they fix this soon though...roleplaying is PAIN because of this! Also the sandstorms make me go nuts...they haven't thought about people with some...epilepsy or migraine.

I really enjoy the FH+, but when I first encountered the sandstorm, my friend got a bad headache and me too. And I didn't find any way to toggle the sandstorm off, and it continued for a long time. Makers haven't really thought about people who have some epileptic disease...
I was told that I should leave the map if I don't like it, but I was in middle of roleplay when it started, and I didn't want to leave, but when I was about to throw up, I had to quit playing... :(

I had the very same problem. Don't create any new folders, just let the program install itself and it should work. Now my problem is that everytime I lag, I have to reinstall the game for it to work.

Sorry my bad english, I wish you the best with your game, it's really worth all this pain with installation. :3
