Blackness?

Hi.

I stopped playing FH for a good while but decided today to start playing again. So I got on my account, no real issues, and I redownloaded the game. I got the Windows standard download, not the torrent, and it went smoothly.

The download completed somewhat quickly. I quickly clicked on it and logged in, ready to play.

But even when I go to select a character, the background is totally black. When I actually select a character to play, create a new character, ect, it's all still pitch black.

What can I do to fix this? When I enter the actual game, everything but my character, the buttons at the bottom, and the chatbox is pitch black!

You may try re-downloading the game or try the torrent or getting the patch.

If uninstalling the game and reinstalling doesn't work I suggest going to the main menu and selecting "options" then "video" and switching your rendering subsystem between OpenGL and Direct3D9. Sometimes that helps.

I am having this same problem right now, and neither of the options above are helping. :( Just my character and black everything else. No uninstalling, torrent or simple rendering swap fix for me. Fullscreen didn't magically fix anything either.

Edit: Uninstalled and found the folder in C:/Program Files. Completely deleted everything and, even though I did it before, I tried downloading via the torrented one again. Something hit this time around (after five other unsuccessful un/re-installs) and it works. No idea what happened, but try completely wiping FH off your computer. When you re-install (preferably with their torrent), do NOT change any of the options and just load it straight up and sign on. Worked for me. I can mess with the settings and it still works, but I didn't at first to make sure it set itself up nice and neat.

It appears that you are missing some files. Check to see if you are missing the highlighted file from LocalDisk(C:)\FeralHeart\Media\Terrains\fhmaps\fhPodium.fhm

Maybe you're missing a few textures? Try looking in your Texture folder by going into LocalDisk(C:)\FeralHeart\Media\Textures. Such as grass textures/other textures to do with that.

Or maybe you need to switch your rendering subsystem by going to Options\Video\Rendering Subsystem and change it to Direct3D9. After that restart FH. If nothing has changed - restart your PC.

Try updating your graphics card also. Go to your start button then right click 'Computer' then select 'Properties'. After you've done so, go to 'Devise manager' >> 'Display adapters' then Double click 'Intel(R) HD Graphics'. You will then come across something that mentions something about updating your graphics card.

I had this problem..Click the "B" button on your keyboard, then go to the home tab and click go home.
