Restart the game, make a character quickly without editing it at all and write a name for it and try to create.
If it creates, just go back again end edit it as you please.
If you still are unable to do this you're most likely using symbols or other letters that it might think is spaces. Try using a-z only. Maybe it's even a setting on your keyboard? In that case try different names and all that.
