How can u stop a lagging map????

I luv making maps but it seems to lag wen a few lots of objects r added and wen i put my heightmap in and make the map huge. I could make way better maps then wat i usually do but with the lagging its not gonna happen. Also i tried Fasterheart but that didnt do much use.

Turn off water reflection and turn down the view distance?

When you are TESTING the map, not placing objects or whatever...

Press ESC.
Click on Options
Go to the Video tab.
Scroll all the way down.
Click on Water Reflection.
Un-check it.
Click on View Distance.
Put it to 0.
Exit out of that mini window. Tada!

It gets rid of a huge amount of lagging but theres still a tiny bit of lag there. Id say it helps enough to make the map but if i test out wen i go to cape with the water reflection on would it lag as much?

Well ive got another problem wen i went to test the map at cape there were no objects there, none at all not even a portal was there. Wat can i do for that?
