Ocean material?
« on: September 04, 2011, 01:28:18 pm »
For an object containing water, I really liked the look of the "ocean" in the maps and not so much the look of the "water Object" that you can use in map maker.  I was wondering if I might be able to type in the material and mesh files for the ocean water (in object maker of course) and then put it in my object to make it look nicer? If I am at all able to do this, what are the mesh and material files for the ocean?

Thanks again SunGazer

ok so if im reading it right you want an ocean?

in mapmaker you click "ocean"  and you play with the water levle

uless you have a heightmap  clicking ocean will put your whole map underwater ,you can make heightmaps by useing programs like GIMP or L3DT
clicking "ocean" will also give you rivers on a height map

the water object in mapmaker is really only ment for shallow water on flat ground

hope this helps :)

I believe they want the Ocean material on an object. To do this, simply go into object maker, load any mesh, and in the blank where it asks for the material file, type "OceanMat" and save it to a group.
