FPS problem with some meshes (solved)
« on: October 03, 2011, 05:57:47 pm »
I have a problem and I have no idea of what's happening

The problem is:
I have 2 meshes, both meshes running alone work fine. but when i put both meshes in the same scenary, the FPS drop drastically.

I have the mesh edif.mesh and runs at:
141FPS  = 7.09ms

I have the mesh edifc.mesh and runs at:
93.5FPS = 10.7ms

all is good, but when i load both meshes i get:
9.3FPS  = 107ms
that's lag :(

but if
7.09ms + 10.7ms = 17.79ms = 56FPS
why i get 9.3FPS ?

and at Feral Heart it is worst because I get something like 2FPS, and sometimes it crashes.

any idea of what's happening?

-I have already tried to change to OpenGL but is worst
-also I have redo the mesh but I get the same thing with doors mesh.
-i deleted parts of the mesh and even if i put only one door i get the same problem.
-It can't be the collision system because i'm not using it.
-I don't think is a computer problem because i can play at any map and it don't lag like this without reason. but anyway i put my computer description:
Procesor: AMD Turion 64 1.8GHz (single core)
Graphics card: SiS M760GX Integrated 3D (64MB)

here are the annoying meshes for download if you want to test them: ingenieria2.zip

*FPS = Frames per second
*ms = miliseconds

I see some potential for lag in them. Maybe from vertex count. But...I'm not experiencing any running lag at the moment. So I'm not really sure where the problem would lie.

Having the meshing program open at the same time can effect game lag. So can running the game for a long time and constantly opening and closing the game (oddly, the worst offender for me lol).

It did take a abnormal amount of time loading up edif.mesh. So that may be the culprit. Maybe...

Thanks hammy.
I also take a abnormal amount of time loading that mesh, maybe is the texture resolution, i will check that.

Having the meshing program open at the same time can effect game lag.
Yes, and sometimes it crash the whole computer not only the game.

But...I'm not experiencing any running lag at the moment.
that good to hear.

At the moment, there is no updates for the video card (last 2004), so , I will check the mesh in another computer.

The problem is solved, and the problem was the computer (i get offended when someone say my computer is bad, LoL).
Seems the video card is runing out of memory due to high resolution textures, so its causing lag with both meshes.
Like hammy, i have run the meshes in a newer computer and i get framerates of 296FPS on each mesh, and 167FPS with both meshes, this is completly normal.
Thanks Hammy for testing my meshes.
