The White Mountains Coven [Long-Term, Realistic Fox RP][Applications Open]

Deep in the snowcapped mountains lives a small band of foxes. They occupy their time playing in the lush grasses at the bottom of the mountain and drinking from the cold springs that sprout throughout the landscape like wildflowers. Truly this is paradise. Or is it?

News and Announcements:
10/21 - The group was debuted. Maps are still a slight WIP though they will be ready at the moments notice. First  "Official" RP is planned for October 28th or 29th.

Current Plot:
A great shaking of the earth caused a some large boulders from the top of White's Mine to fall and cover the exit to the above-ground. The foxes are trapped in the Mine until the tunnelers dig a new passageway. Close quarters and minimal food are sure to make tempers flare and turn even the best of friends into angry bedfellows.

General Rules:

Be nice and respectful Out Of Character.
You character can be the biggest jerk on the planet but there's no reason we can't all be friends out of character.

RP fairly.
Nobody likes a Powerplayer, so don't be one. Same goes for Godmodders, Autohitters and Gary/Mary-sues. If you aren't sure about what they are feel free to ask.

Keep swearing to a minimum.
Swearing is tolerated both in character and out of character but don't be do it constantly. Racial slurs are NOT TOLERATED and you will be removed.

Please be active.
Friday and Saturday are our "Official" roleplay days. No you don't have to be there all day, both days but at least try to pop in once for an hour or so. That being said, we generally RP most everyday of the week so as long as I catch you online at least once or twice a week you will be alright.

Keep your characters realistic.
No neon-green foxes. Accepted breeds are Red, Grey and Silver foxes (Any fox breed in the Vulpes classification is a'ok) All morphs are accepted so-long at it's realistic colors and markings.

Experienced role players are highly preferred.
Text talk and one sentence posts are NOT tolerated. The same goes for not using capitalization or proper grammar. I realize that some people can't use quotes "" so using ** or -- is acceptable when your character is speaking. Also, PLEASE use parenthesis when talking OOC while there is an RP going on. We RP 3rd person so absolutely no 1st person rp'ing.

Limit yourself to a few Characters.
Members that have been with the group less than one month are NOT allowed to have more than three charas. The limit otherwise if five unless you've talked to me about it first.

Major plots must be approved first.
 For example, your fox gets sick or breaks a leg is okay to do without telling me first. However I don't want you're fox to be captured by hunters, shot at, or stalked by assassins without me okay'ing it.

Obey the rules or you will be kicked out.
Everyone gets three warnings. After that you WILL be kicked out of the group. Hopefully this doesn't have to ever happen but if need be, it will.

The Rules of the Foxes:

1.) Defend your Coven. Even at the cost of your life.

2.) Respect your Chief and your fellow coven members. We are stronger together.

3.) Treason and betrayal will lead to banishment or death.

4.) The most qualified male heir take leadership after the death of the leader. In the event that the heir is too young or no male was produced, the most experienced deputy will take the leader's place.

5.) The destiny of kits will be decided by the Chief and the Star seeker.

6.) Friends outside the Coven are okay but remember where your loyalties lie.

Our Ranks:

CHIEF: The leader is the ruler of the coven. He makes the important decisions and watches out for the best interest of the coven. (Only one at a time)

GENERALS: The second in command. If the leader is not present they make decisions in his place. If no male heir is presented by the time of the leaders death one of them will take over the coven. (Only two at a time)

HEALER: In charge of keeping the coven healthy. The healer knows what plants can be used as remedies and how to heal most afflictions. (Females only. Only three at a time plus three Chosen)

STARSEEKER: The Coven's Shaman. She watches the stars and interprets the will of the ancestors. (Females only. One at a time + One Chosen)

GUARDS: Guards are in charge of guarding the den and the surrounding territory. They wander the territory edges twice a day to renew any scent markings. They are also trained assassins schooled in death blows. Guards are one of the only ranks that are NEVER never expected to hunt for the Coven. (Males only)

WARRIORS: The covens main line of defense. Warriors are battle ready at all times and even after become full warriors train daily to keep their skills sharp. Warriors travel with guards and help to patrol the territory daily.

RUNNERS: The swiftest and leanest members of the coven. They are mainly hunters but in times of battle are also used to send messages from one end of the battle to another. Because of their smaller stature, and quiet pawsteps they are also used as spies.

FISHERS: Swift and quick-thinking, these foxes catch fish and crabs out of the underground wells for the coven to eat. Lean and tall, fishers usually sport extremely long legs and seem to tower over many of the their coven members. [Max three]

TUNNELERS: The largest and strongest members of the group. They dig new tunnels and dens for the coven to use. They are currently working on hollowing out an old crystal mine that is just beyond the walls of their den.

FIRE KEEPER: One of the easier jobs in the coven. The Fire Keeper is charged with keeping the small fires that warm the underground tunnels aflame by bringing sticks and small logs from the wood-storage to the fires. (One at a time + One Chosen; usually otherwise challenged foxes such as those with a broken leg, deaf or partially blind)

GARDEN TENDER: The Garden tender grows and nurtures the small underground garden in the tunnels during the spring and summer. During the fall and winter they aid the Fire Keeper in keeping the fired lighted and the dens warm. (One at a time + One Chosen; usually otherwise challenged foxes such as those with a broken leg, deaf or partially blind)

THE CHOSEN: Once kits reach 8 months of age they become chosen to start training for the rank that the Leader and the Starseeker have decided that is best suited for them.

KIT: The youngest members of the coven. These are the foxes under 8 months of age.

MOTHER: Females foxes with, or about to have kits. They move to the nursery close to the time they are to give birth and remain there caring for their young until their children reach 8 months and become trainees. After that they resume with their regular duties.

DENMOTHER: The female in charge of the nursery. Aids expecting mothers and those with kits in daily duties. Generally the Denmother doesn't have kits of her own because she is busy enough caring for all of the covens kits. (Females only. One at a time + One Chosen)

VETERANS: The oldest foxes in the coven. After the give up their duties they live out the rest of their days in the comfort of the tribe. They are greatly respected in the coven and some join the council and aid the leader is his decision making.




Holidays & Celebrations:

MAY DAYS: May Day's are a week long celebration of the oncoming summer. May Day's are kicked off with a grand feast on the first warm day in May. During this celebration there are many games and contests between the the younger foxes. The celebration concludes with the whole coven sleeping outside under the starry sky.

A small snowy-flowing river runs through the mine and connects to a small overflown cavern that houses numerous fish, crabs and mussels year round. Royale is quiet, not one to speak among others. She is intelligent, polite to those above her in rank, but she is protective of the Coven, so she's hostile towards strangers. A swift mind helps her learn things quickly and remember them well. Her energy lasts for a long time, making her ideal for the rank of Runner.

The first thing most notice about Kyril is his general quietness. He tends to hang back in groups, and remains in the shadows most of the time. On the rare occasion he does say something, it is often very smart. He also looks as if to be always deep in thought, or analyzing something around him. Many say that he is just cold, or thinks that he is better than everybody else. While he is cold, to a certain extent, he does not think the latter. Not at all. In fact, what he thinks is the opposite of that. He places himself below the other foxes, and has a dangerously low self-esteem. While he is shy, talk to him and he will talk to you. But if you go to him expecting a pleasant conversation, you've got it all wrong. He is very pessimistic, and has a biting wit. This results in brutal sarcasm and blunt honesty. He's not exactly friendly, but once you warm up to him, if you can put up with him, he's uncharacteristically loyal, and sometimes even nice.

Sly is rather stubborn and does not take no for an answer. It is a bit hard for her to keep her cool, especially when the other kits around her are bugging, teasing, and tackling her. Though Sly is rather lithe, it may be hard to believe that she has a graceful and caring side, she doesn't like to show her 'smooth' side around others, considering they will think she is a wimp, at least that is what she assumes. She loves to watch the glittering stars rise over the big, round, glowing moon when the time comes at night, Sly thinks it's best for her to watch it alone so that no one knows how much she feels for something that amazing.

Eley is kinda shy. She hides from the big ones, but not the small ones, except if it is somebody she trusts. She's really careful but playfully. She's hard to get to, but if you stay with her awhile and take of her, then you might get to her. As she is hard to get to, it's also hard to trust her. But she's more shy, and doesn't like being scared by others. She might just freeze, and just stand there.

Skye is the type of kit who likes to hang out with foxes. She's a bit spunky, and loves to go on adventures. She loves making friends, she'll most often play with them. Skye can have her feelings hurt easily, but she'll become mad if they bother her even more. She is mostly a solitary fox when she doesn't have any friends to play with or if her mind is just blank, having no ideas. Often if she's alone, she likes to hum little tunes to herself. She also has a very large appetite, so she likes to eat most of the time.

[Personality] Fenris is a solitary kind of guy, preffering being on his own than being surrounded by friends, tending to stay away from large gatherings of foxes, always seen on the sidelines. He also doesn't talk much, mostly nodding or shaking his head, or even just short quiet one worded replies. Others might see him as scary or weird, as he often shoots glares at those who aproach him, but he really just doesn't know how to handle company.
[RP Sample] Fenris hopped from one rock to another as he walked the borders of the territory, carefully sniffing the air for both predators, and intruders. He didn't have to follow the rocks to do so, but doing things a little differently helped him to pass the time as he travelled. He stopped to refresh a scent marking, before continuing, hoppping back onto teh rocks. He gave another fox a nod as he passed, like it was normal for him to be avoiding the ground by hopping from rock to rock.

Welcome Kyugima! I gotta say I'm kinda honored that you decided to join our group. I see you on the forums all time so I know how busy you are.

Size-wise I always found foxes a little hard to decide on. The general consensuses in my other fox group though was somewhere at this setting. Though this setting is of a fox on the larger scale like a Guard or a Warrior.
