Where's the terrain documentation?

Ok, so I wanted to make a map, I looked on the documentation, and the height maps were there, but the terrain mask part was empty! How do I make one? I really want to make my map! Also, a lot of the stuff was confusing.

Well just copy the height map into another window and make a new layer over it. Then using bright red, green and blue just colour in the different texture places.
E.g.
Red= sand
Blue= grass
Green= desert sand

It needs to hav a background colour though, you cant leave spaces without colour. Delete the height map layer and save it as "mapnameMask.png"
