Material making question

Not entirely sure how to make materials for meshes. Some meshes I've downloaded don't have materials with them and they say that you can make the materials yourself. Rather than wasting too much time trying to figure out how, could someone please let me know? I have looked for tutorials but I haven't found any.

That's pretty easy.I am not an expert in making meshes, but i know a little.So, first you download a  picture (preferrably .png) and save it in: FH folder -> Media -> Textures (You will see that in the 'textures' folder are alot of pictures that look like...some textures, indeed xD) So, after you save it there, you go on FH, and then to object maker.You select any object outta there, and put the texture file name (e.g.: texture.png, MUST have '.png' at the end!) and, the object will appear with the texture on.I personally tried this also, and i've created a zebra with an I.T texture c:.It will sure work, if you know how to do it!

That description you gave Is very much wrong ... Im sorry to tell you I make meshs and materials and i must tell you thats not right

How to really make some materails*****

1)Go ont the interner and find the image you want
2)You will need a program suck as gimp or photo show) Go into the program and paste/load the image into it
3)Save the image as what ever you want to name it and put .png at the end
(This is the hard part)
4)Go into your document and go to    Cdrive>FeralHeart>Media>Materials  and open ANY file with a program on your comp called NotePad.Delete EVERTHING in it!!!.Then rename the it something like MyMaterials
5)Now you have saved the image you want go into Go into the notepad and Copy and Paste this ->

material (Put the name you want to load it in game as... Like BlueFabric )
{
   technique
   {
      pass
      {
         cull_hardware none
         cull_software none
         texture_unit
         {
            texture (In here place the name you saved the image as).png
         }
      }
   }
}

And then DONT PRESS SAVE AS because it wont work Press save and then if so rename it to what you want

6)Go into FH and select the pbject you want to retexture and put in the name that YOU named the image but NOT the .png file :)

If you want Give me the link to the pics you want and i will make then for you.Send me as meny as you want 100 if so :) but tell me what you want them called :)
