*completely new, and clueless* Slow, jerky movement?

I just downloaded FH, and from what I've seen it looks AMAZING... but what isn't amazing is that for some reason it's incredibly slow and jerky (motion wise, not game-wise), It's worst when I get around other people's avatars - mine gets very jerky and slow.

I've tried adjusting the video options, but it didn't do much good. I have a Compaq laptop that's a bit old but generally fine (WolfQuest works alright, after all...), and my resolution is 1280 X 768. Is there anything is could be aside from an old graphics card?

Lower your settings such as water reflection in game if your around it and looking at people. If that doesnt help I am unsure.
