No,it's free. It'll just bug you with a pop-up every now and then saying that your trial expired and you must pay for the full version (but you don't have to..what'll they do, come to your house and uninstall it?)

I also happen to have a wonderful update for you~



I coded the first of the manes into the game! It's still an item, and I'll provide the .PSD in the download for your convenience. Also for your convenience, it's textured with the same mane texture as your presets!
