In-Game Interaction

Is it just me or is it difficult to make friends or establish communication with players in the game? Everyone seems so wrapped up in their RP and mates..

I've made a couple of friends so I don't think everyone is just interested in RP and mates.  :)

Just try hopping into a chat in general or local, even. I'm used to the Plains, hence me saying "general".  I'm not saying to just randomly butt in, of course, but just chat around some ^.^
Resigned, quit, and basically long gone.

Hehe, I know what you mean. I often feel like that, but joining a RP or Talking in General can give you someone to talk too. x3 Rping is basicly how I made friends, you gotta get out there and have fun. :3

I got some good friends from roleplays (like Crin. <3) so I think thats the main place to look.
Literate - You'll find nicer and more established people.
Semi-literate - A mix between the Literate peeps and the more dramatic lot.
Un-literate - I wouldn't bother, the people in this kind of roleplay are normally trolls or just plain derps.
I like to help in general or sit in Bonfire, normally someone comes up to me and asks if I'm oki, then I start a conversation. I made another good friend that way.
