Deprived Fate
Along the faded mist through the thick and humid air, came a soft warm breeze. A
faint howl stroke through the distance, drowned out by the sounds of crashing
waves against the dry land. On the moist and deep green grass, a secluded wolf
strolled down to a nearby stream of water to cool himself. The sun set down on his dark coat,
and the heat surrounded him, making it unbearable to last another minute out in the
shadeless land. Settling for the gushing stream, he took a sip of the cold water, and
set out for yet another long walk. He grew weary of every step he took forth, but still
continued until he had found his destination. When he looked toward a set of trees that
seemed to guide him to a small cave, he rushed onward without hesitating. Once he entered,
he had noticed he was no longer alone.
A pack of wolves had already found the cave to be an ideal place to rest. Turning their
heads to stranger, the alpha sprung out to the intruder and gave him a low-pitched growl.
the loner had slowly backed up, and, narrowed his eyes to the alpha. A burst of whispers
flooded through the group about the stranger. "What brings you to this territory?" the alpha
asked while keeping his eyes on the intruder. "I was just trying to find a place to rest." he
replied while staring at the leader. The alpha glared at him, then, approved of his company.
He had felt a tad awkward with the pack, and sat himself to a corner. A she-wolf joined with
her clan's conversation, turning her head to the "loner," as they referred to, then back. "He
looks kind of lonely," she pointed out to a couple of she-wolves. "I guess." they answered,
returning back to their conversation. "Should I go talk to him?" she asked. "If you want,
one of them replied. They couldn't care less about him, she thought, as she walked over to
him.
Once she reached to him, she sat down, and took in a deep breath. "Hi there." She said
with a smile. He turned to her nervously, while his ears twitched. "Uh,..hi." Her black shiny
coat glistened while the sun beat on her. "My name is Haze. Yours?" He felt a bit more
relaxed, seeing that the she-wolf wanted to talk with him. "My name's Derek..." He started
to feel his heart beat quickly once again. "Are you okay?" She asked, looking concerned for
him. "I'm alright, just a little thirsty." He looked as if he could faint by his actions, which had
led Haze to worry. "I can take you to a lake or something if you want." He got up, trembling
after every step he took, but finally reached the lake that Haze guided him to. They sat and
both took a drink of the fresh and cold water. When they returned, they both sat near the
corner, and lie down on their sides. Both looking exhausted, they took a nap, while the sun
parted the sky, and one by one, made the stars visible. They had woken up not to long after
that, when the pack had just settled and fell asleep. Sneaking out of the cave, they explored
the plains together. While they ran through the land, the wind had struck their mane. They both
fell onto the deep green grass that Derek had once walked upon, while Derek and
Haze laughed. They stared to the dark blue sky lit with millions of stars, and relaxed
onto a patch of plants blooming with vivid-colored flowers. As Haze found it to be the most
perfect moment, such as how love finds itself out of the blue, Derek interrupted. "I think
we should head back now." Haze drooped her ears, then sat up, ready to lead towards
the cave. Before anybody else had awaken, they both slipped in and closed their eyes.
Once a week had passed by, the leader to Haze's pack felt a little more secure seeing
that Derek had not looked as much of a threat than he first believed. Walking up to Derek, he
sat down near the corner where Derek had always rested. While the alpha, looking a bit strict,
turned his head to the wolf, Derek looked to him as well. "I have mistakenly judged you, and
for that I am sorry." Derek frowned while looking to him, though he knew from day one, the
leader hadn't trusted him. "I'm assuming you are on your own?" He tilted his head. "That's
about right. I travel with nobody at my side." The leader focused his eyes onto his. "I see,..
well, I have come to a decision. You can take part in this pack or stay put. " Derek lowered his
ears."I guess I can participate in this pack.." The leader nodded his head, then, turning the
other way, left.
