I've seen my friends on FH do it before; one second they are standing then they fall flat without having to go 'sit-lay-plop down.' How do you do it?

Use the Z key to sit, lay, and plop, as you put it. Hitting X backtracks these moves.

Also Hold SHIFT while pressing Z to curl up and lay your head down!

You can select "lay" straight up from the actions menu I believe. I may have to check this though... *nope doesn't work*

I think this may be caused by slight lag between actions, so it simply looks like they went straight from one to the other.

Sameth basically said it all right there, It's generally just lag between the users.
