Where to find portals?

I'm a new payer, and I keep getting lost, especially in the South Pole. I can never find any Portals, and so I get lost looking for portals, like looing for the Atlantis Portal. Can someone please tell me how I'm supposed to remember where these portals are? And if possible give examples.

For the South Pole the portal to Atlantis is near the top right thought a nifty trick, if you are lost in the South Pole map and heading for Atlantis press 'f3' and move around, most portals tend to stick out in the distance though the snow can sometimes make it a little~ difficult. Then once done press 'f2' or 'f4' I don't remember since I had to re-configure my keyboard but hope this helps.

Don't worry on how you'll find portals, you'll learn them eventually. In addition to Vampryic's help, wings can also be useful wandering the South Pole map. You fly high in the sky and afterwards look around for the portal. The portal is usually the bright yellow circle off in the distance. They are almost impossible to miss.

The portal should be around the top left corner of the map, around that area anyway. If you cant find it just ask someone in game and they should show you
