GIMP Height map problems
« on: April 23, 2012, 09:22:52 pm »
So, I made my height map on GIMP. I had all the right things: No Alpha Channels, greyscale, 513 pixels, png file... all that. I saved it in my terrains folder. But, when I try to put it in as my height map on the map maker: ZenIceAgeTerrain.png. I get a notification saying it can't find that file. Any help?
i made this username when i was ten oops

Save your map file first as what you want it in map maker.

Then you'll be able to save the height map to FH>Media>Terrains>(MapName)

513x513
One layer
Greyscale
No alpha channel
PNG. file.

^ Just double check, sometimes it changes when you're saving.

If it says it can't find it, another issue may be that it is case sensitive. Also try typing it in with and without the file extension (.png). I have also had many issues with uploading height maps from Gimp... Good luck to you.

Milla, don't post on other people's threads, make your own.  Are you using regular Feral Heart or Feral Heart+ ?

If it's regular, try reinstalling the game, deleting the Feral Heart folder completely.

If that doesn't work, and after you've installed it still doesn't work, change your rendering system in the options menu when the game starts by going to the video tab, you'll have to restart your game for it start.

If you're using FH+, delete it and get the regular version.

Also, if you do add another layer in GIMP, do not press the 'Merge' option, always 'Flatten Image' when it comes to saving.

I'm not sure if this will help, but when I make maps, I usually have to type the first name with a capitol, and then Terrain after it, with a capitol T. (EX.) 'ExampleTerrain'. I hope that helps anyone :)
