What is the Slenderman?

I think the reason why the sudden buzz about the 'Slenderman' is because of a new game, dedicated to him, called Slender. The game is based off the myth of Slenderman, and very scary. The first time I played it I had nightmares. You can find the game download here: (Warning, scary game. Lul.)

From what I understand about Slenderman, the more you think about him, the more he seems real.  I used to be ABSOLUTELY obsessed with Creepypastas (up until I read Sweet Apple Massacre e_e) and I'm starting to think about getting back into them.
