.Fho Exported File Question
« on: July 19, 2012, 10:55:02 pm »
Alright, this is going to sound really stupid. ><

So, I enjoy downloading maps, mapped roleplays ingame, the etc. But something confuses me and I really don't want to screw anything up. I've searched the help forums and the tutorial forums for something that might help with my problem, but have yet to find an answer.

My problem :: I have a set of .fho files in my exports folder [and objects folder for another map] already. [MyPlants, MyTrees, MyRocks, etc] for a map I downloaded for a roleplay. Now I downloaded another map, and am unsure if I should replace the files or not.

It's been quiet awhile since I've played feralheart, and don't want to mess up either map [they both have custom meshes].

Thank you if you could provide me with any help. c:

Generally the default meshes can be replaced with no problem. And most people don't name their custom meshes the same.

You can replace these files.

When it gives you the option to replace, I always just click "keep both" and it seems to work fine for me that way. :3

I've always been told not to keep both because it could confuse the program, but if it seems to work for her; go at it.

Thank you for both of your answers, but I've seem to have encountered another problem.

If I replace one set of the files, I am unable to see the objects in the other map. If I keep the files [rename one with a (2) at the end] the files, I can see objects in one map, but not the other.

I apologize if I'm becoming a bother; I just wish for both maps to work without difficulty.

Now that's odd, are all of the files your replacing named "MyPlants.fho", "MyTrees.fho", "MyRocks.fho", and/or "Default.fho?"

Yes, those are indeed the files I am talking about.

Have you tried just skipping over the files and not messing with anything? Just not allowing them to overwrite or save two copies? If not, I'd suggest trying this, because at one point, the same thing had happened to me and I just toyed around with the files a bit and they all reappeared the next day.

If I don't overwrite or rename, the objects are still just visible in one map.
[A dead tree is the custom mesh in this map.]

In the other map, it is pretty much filled with custom trees, caves and rocks [but not the dead tree in the other map] and when you enter that map, you see nothing [besides the few basic Feralheart meshes that were used]

I've tried downloading the meshes for the maps but that doesn't help either, if anyone was going to suggest that.

Did you try deleting and reinstalling both maps?
