map files clashing ~ help
« on: July 25, 2012, 09:01:27 pm »
hey again..

I recently got into map making, and I downloaded a bunch of mesh's, and I really love the map that I came up with. But I exported it, and the group files like 'MyRocks, MyTrees' ect. all downloaded with it. This happened because I put new mesh's into them.

Now these files clash with another map that has done the same thing. I can't keep them both in the exports file because it will either replace or rename. The replace looses the new mesh's from on of the maps, and the Rename makes the one that was renamed maps crash the client.

Is there anyway to fix this? ._. Or would I have to start over x.x
- because if thats the case, I'm just going to scrap the map all together.

Firstly; you're not supposed to add objects to the custom groups that come with Feral Heart. Whenever adding downloaded meshes, you should create new and custom groups for your objects. This will fix problems.

I realized this already. I'm asking if there is any way to fix what's already been done. If not, like I said, I'll just have to scrap it.

as in like.. give up on it. I'll probably go back to it later, I moved all the new mesh's to different groups so I'll just have to put the objects back on the map where they were. Shouldn't take /to/ long.

there is a way to fix that, yes.

Clone all the objects to a new object group, just like this:
instead of MyPlants create an object group named MehPlants

Then go to FeralHeart\media\terrains\yourmapname and open the file yourmapnameObjects.cfg with notepad.
use the "replace" menu and
type this in the "search" box: [MyPlants
type this in the "replace by" box: [MehPlants
replace all, save.
Do that with every object group you want to fix.

and now you should have the map with the objects working again.
