Heightmaps

Yes, I've been asking alot of questions and I'm sorry for that. >.< I promise that this will be the last one for awhile at least...
Question: I wanna make a map and I have GIMP and everything. So, I went to make the heightmap and then finished it and blah blah. But when I typed the heightmap name (ExampleTerrain.png), a heightmap came up. But. The heightmap was the WaterMill Heightmap. DX
1. Is it a glitch?
2. Did I do something wrong making the heightmap in GIMP?

If you're using GIMP, make sure you used Export and not Save. Save makes a file only GIMP can read. Try clicking 'Export' in the File menu, and save it under a filename you could easily remember. Always use .png.

Hmmm. What did you save it as? Did you make sure it was 513x513 pixels? Had you made any changes to the Watermill terrain?

@Glitchpatootie: I saved it as CloudPeakTerrain.xfc...Should I make it CloudPeakTerrain.png there or on the other saver? Yes, it was 513x513.

There's your problem! It has to be a .png file. FeralHeart doesn't read .xfc files.

Oh just one more question. xD Should the file name just be .png or should the whole file? I can't find if there's a way to change it to a .png file fully, but I can change the file name.

The whole file. Open the .xcf in GIMP and Export it as .png, so you have a file called, for example, heightmap.png.

Ahhhh! Got it! Tested the terrain in Map Maker and it works awesome now. :3 Thanks alot guys!
Now just to figure out how to make a terrain mask...xD
