Heightmap. >:I
« on: September 21, 2012, 02:45:18 am »
Okay so, I made a heightmap in gimp, exported it as Portugalterrain.png, went to FH, typed the name, and it crashed

- The map was 513 and 513.

- It was grayscale ;~;

- It was made on gimp

- I typed in the name correctly

- Still crashes ;a;

Help?

A lot of height map problems have been happening. Nothing should be wrong but, how old is your computer and how much stuff do you have for FH/FH+? Do you have a lot of meshes or items? This is just a glitch or something with FeralHeart. If you answer my questions i have for you then I'll help you.

Well I'm not too familiar with map making since I've never made a map but you can check this link where Delay explains most of the mapmaker crash problems:

I hope something there helps Meowzers.

This has happened to my maps before and what i recommend is you delete a few meshes or others then re-download then re-install the game.

Ah this happened to me on my first map. You have to go to the sidebar and make sure alpha channel is turned off. If it's on it will crash. To get to it, go to the right sidebar, on the drop-down select your heightmap, then right-click on the map in the middle section of the sidebar, then click remove alpha channel.

well if none of the suggestions above work try this. I've had this problem several times but this always fixes it. For some reason FH thinks its not a greyscale even if it is.

Open up your heightmap in your gimp program. Create a new page. The dimensions will be the same as your previous 513x513. Then click greyscale.

Once it loads up it should obviously be empty. Go back to your heightmap and cut it from the old picture. Place it on the new page. Merge the layer down. Then save it to whatever name you'd like. Now place it in your map folder and load up Feral Heart and give it a shot. This normally works for me when it refuses to read the other heightmap. I just give it a new page and FH kicks in.
