If you're going to write a horror novel I suggest the murders should be something original and mysterious, something that we as a general audience haven't heard before. Simply because this sustains your enigma within your story, it will get your audience thinking and questioning what they are really reading ^^

And I simply say that you need to have murders with the wow factor is because as an overall audience we are becoming desensitised to horror as a whole because we are exposed to so much violence in the real world, it's taking more horrific and devastating deaths/violent acts to actually scare us/make us uncomfortable with what we are reading/watching ^^
