The most devastating hurricane is from the 1928 which has double the funds the federal government had to pay for internal repairs (The Great Miami Hurricane.). The definition of devastation depends on what the person factors into it: funding, building destroyed, or deaths. A hurricane can be taken care of ahead of time if shutters are purchased earlier along with cans of food, and generators. Unlike tornadoes, earthquakes or tsunamis, there is time for preparation. Many warnings have been given out before hand to leave the coastal area especially after what happened before hand..
I apologize for I have sounded harsh throughout this post but nothing will ever compare to what hurricane Andrew, Katrina, or Wilma has done. They were categories 3-5 unlike Sandy, that is a category 2. The deaths were only 55, not over the hundreds. I lost family in all of these hurricanes. One death can make any hurricane a disaster and the damages can vary per region but don't say this is the worse.
I do hope the best for those stuck in Hurricane Sandy. I apologize if this offends any of those out in the hurricane.. Sorry ladies and gentlemen.
