R.I.P char no. 1. Welcome to the world char no. 2
« on: November 14, 2012, 03:33:12 pm »
Well that's the weirdest title I've written so far.
I wondered if anyone else, like me, had characters the are made to replace another character should that character be killed.
For example, I have a wolf character who I use for the wolf RP I'm in. And I thought, if she died somehow, via disease, starvation or whatever, I'd make another character that could be born and I could use to replace her. Like a went a life is taken, another is born sort of thing...No idea where I heard that from.
I'm guessing that people who RP realisticly without powerplaying and all that poop are most likely to do this.

Hm... sadly, most RPs I've been in never survive long enough for my character's potential demise to be an issue. XD For my own RP, though, I have considered having a couple of spare characters for when the dynamic becomes too unbalanced (three packs on one group; it gets tricky).

Lol. What I usually do is make their "children".
If I have a character whom I have grown to love, I will make a duplicate of them with a few minor changes. The new character would then take on the role the other one played, as one of their children.

Another thing I tend to do is make a male and female version of the same character. That way, if one gender version dies, I can use the other gendered version later on in the roleplay, with the same attitudes and everything that the former character had. x3

I have seen people make their characters reborn. Example like fight wolves there are some really attached people with there characters so they make them reborn or you could just say that character died (starvation, disease, etc.) And just make replacement out off the old character so you still have the group and so that you don't have to make a new pack and go to the trouble of getting all the old members back and so on. Hope that helped a little bit.

I have known some people create a 'reborn' version of their previous deseased characters because they and other people grew very attached to them. And RPing as a spirit of the dead character isn't a bad idea at all. Except, I know that some people aren't really into the whole paranormal spirit sort of stuff and will only work with a number of people. Some very clever ways of getting round character death here.
Your book sounds really interesting my Lord. I hope to be able to read it one day. :)
