Portal Help;; Map Making

Is it possible to make a portal that leads to another area of a map while making it?  If so, could someone make a tutorial with images to help me?

Thank you, I have another question.  My textures for terrians are always stuck on african grass and I can't change it.  Like I click one I want and it stays the same as African Grass.
