This isn't helpful to me. I can't get the reference into GIMP, and I don't know how to use color with the paintbrush tool. And I can't find helpful GIMP tutorials on Youtube, so I am in quite a pickle indeed.

Although im not to familiar with the GIMP version, but in the end both GIMP and Photoshop have the same to almost the same results. If you want to learn more about the brushes in GIMP then i suggest reading come tutorials on there website or threads with that as well since my specialty is Photoshop.
