Downloaded Objects for first time, dont know where to put.
« on: January 30, 2013, 07:25:06 pm »

I downloaded a large lot of .mesh and .material objects and placed them into MyObjects folder. Thinking all was good I went into the game and all the objects I tested said the material was "BaseWhite" or something simular. I know that they have colors and actual material to them, not just white but no matter what I type for the material it all goes back to white. Im just wondering where I need to place everything if I did not do it right. Thanks for any help.

You are correct, they should be textured.
Did you reload the game after you placed them into your MyObjects folder?

Yes I did, several times. The mesh are working fine but It does not seem to want to use the materials that were made for them.

Make sure that you are typing it in right. I'm not an expert on maps and objects and such but make sure you're typing in the correct material code name for the right object not just the name on the individual files or folder. That means the coding name itself inside the actual material file. Ex: Treemat (Hope that makes sense Dx sorry)

Just to add but when typing material names, make sure you include all capital letters/symbols/spaces etc ;)

What meshes did you download exactly?

Right-click>> Open With>> Notepad

Right click the .material file with a program called Notepad, like in the image.

You may need to click "Choose default program" and find the icon on your computer if it doesn't come up as a first choice.

I do not have an Open with option, only open which goes to a blank web page.

When you click open you do you get that small window that says "Search the web for the correct opening program" and "Choose a list of installed programs"? If you do then click the option "Choose a list of installed programs", it should be the second option.

EDIT:

Here, do you get a message like this:

If you do then select the option circled in red and the program Notepad should show:

Otherwise you may have to click that "Browse" button.
